The Breakfast Club

New York, NY -- Donny Goines, the NYC up-and-comer whose contribution to our exclusive freestyle series, "Special Delivery to the DJBooth," hit our front page earlier this week, is offering up his newly-released sophomore album for free download. The Breakfast Club finds Goines taking inspiration from John Hughes' classic teen comedy of the same name and, appropriately, features a diverse cast of talented collaborators. In the rapper's own words, "The project title derives from the classic movie and is meant to showcase my versatility and growth, but instead of different characters in a classroom, you have different musicians in a studio. All from different walks of life, different perspectives and different ideas which in the end tie together to create an eclectic blend of music and sounds."

Complete with recently-featured leak "What You Expected (Remix)" (with Rain, REKS, Termanology, & Big Lou), the full studio album is available at the link below.

DAMN!!!
How come this piece of Gem is sittin all alone by itself over here, I suppose i serve some

justice to it cos This @*#$! has made my WHOLE FCUKIN WEEKEND ...

Dope in simplicity, Donny Goines is one of the best young artists coming out of N.Y. right now.
I'm not entirely sure of when I first heard of Donny Goines. It obviously had to have happened

over the past year or so thanks to DJBooth.Net (as usual). Eventually, I caught on, & damn!, was

I glad I finally bit. His impressive flow & knack for storytelling caught my ear as I continued

to hear him on mixtapes & featured joints on booth.

The album opens with “Dont You”, produced by Cook Classics. It’s harsh, its forceful peppered

with a rock sound. And Donny goes in like a boxer jabbing his opponents with punchlines.
Next comes in "Bring It Forward" & “Whatever It Is” & both tracks give Donny enuff freedom to

demonstrate his lyrical prowess. He comes through on his trademark punchlines.

The artists selected to complete Goines' "Breakfast Club" were, for the most part, well-selected.Every track is almost custom fit to the style & flow of the artists on it. Outasight & Peter Hadar murder their respective guest parts on "Sublime", as well as Che Grand on "She Likes",
which also features Izza Kizza to cap off a Solid track, Planet Asia & Poison Pen on "Digital Genocide", etc. etc.

All the aforementioned tracks are absolute killers & will cause you to play "The Breakfast Club" repeatedly. There are others, too, like the stunning “What U Expected Remix” & the jazzy & fun “Don’t Mess With a Woman” featuring Amanda Diva & Naledge. And you cannot forget “Oh No”, which
has Goines spitting aggressively spittin a rapid-fire delivery. Oh, & he does all of that over a thrilling rock-oriented beat from the Government.

This album showcases Donny's diversity more than anything & his determination to not be labeled as just a "BAR SPITTIN EMCEE" ... Sometimes you hear coming through with gritty anthems. But then Goines can sound more lighthearted & just have fun, like on “Make Me Feel” & “Party Apple” .... He is certainly capable of adapting to any sound.

But the best part is yet to come, On mellower beats, like the airy soul-infused “Cant Get It Right” & the uplifting “Grateful” Goines ably relaxes his flow to tackle more introspective subject matter. Now I'm officially a FAN of 'Cookin Soul' & '6th Sense' ....

Donny’s ear for beats is unquestionably great, as the production is solid throughout. I mean this album had stellar production, but what did you expect from Producers like 6th sense, Apple Juice Kid, Statik Selektah, Cookin soul, Buckwild etc ...
