New York, NY -- It is often said that gardening is good for the soul. The Atlanta Urban Gardening Program (AUGP) has found that it’s not only good for the soul but also good for the mind, body and well being of youth and senior citizens.

Did you know that Disturbing Tha Peace Records R&B Recording Artist Bobby Valentino was a part of the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension/AUGP, where he spent time working with youth and senior citizens? He taught them how to grow fresh vegetables, clean up vacant lots for garden sites and help build self-esteem. He also learned the importance of developing good communication skills as well as giving back to the community while growing up in Atlanta and working with the AUGP.

This Holiday season Bobby V is coming back to his roots where he will be giving vegetable baskets and turkeys to senior community gardeners in metro Atlanta. He will pass out a truckload of turkeys as well as adopt 15 needy families for the holidays. Just as R&B has brought so much joy into his life it is his hope that he can spread that joy to the youth and senior community gardeners from the metro Atlanta area.

For several years the AUGP has fed more than 300 homeless people each month. Bobby Valentino’s Father likes to think of this as underserved people reaching out to the poorest of our community. Bobby Valentino is a “chip off the old block”. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. This is a way of life for his Father, Bobby Wilson who has worked with AUGP for over 16 years as Director of the program.

Singing professionally since the age of 13, the world was first introduced to the sound of Bobby Valentino when he was the lead singer in Organized Noize’s teen vocal group Mista who’s debut single, “Blackberry Molasses” remains a classic to this day. After a highly successful debut album “Disturbing Tha Peace Presents Bobby Valentino” in 2004 which went on to sell over 850,000 copies, Valentino is gearing up for the release of his sophomore album, “Special Occasion”, due in stores on February 13th. With Valentino co-writing more than three quarters of “Special Occasion,” the new album also boasts songwriting and production credits from award winning hit makers such as Rodney Jerkins, Sean Garrett, Tim & Bob, Bryan Michael Cox and Dre & Vidal. Valentino’s evolution as one of the most respected songwriters and artists today will be undeniable once listeners get a glimpse of “Special Occasion,” arguably his best body of work to date.

Like the title of his sophomore album SPECIAL OCCASION, due out soon, this will truly be a special occasion for Bobby Valentino and the community that will benefit from this Holiday Treat.
