Take A Rap Break & Check Out the Best Indie Rock Songs of 2013 (So Far)
It's no secret that here on The DJBooth we love hip-hop, some might even say we love it obsessively. But there's one thing we love even more than great rap, and that's great music. Every so often it's important to take a listen to what's happening outside of the rap bubble, and that's exactly why we were so intrigued by Pepsi's The Top 10 Indie Songs of 2013 (So Far) collection.
Below are a few of our favorites to get you in the non-rap mood (figuratively speaking). Remember, it's bigger than hip-hop
Foals "Inhaler" - Hailing from the land of indie rock bands (a.k.a Oxford, England) Foals has put in work for a minute and that work certainly paid off with "Inhaler." Released late last year, the "Inhaler" music video is already creeping up on the four-million views mark on YouTube.
Baths "Miasma Sky" - That mildly artsy, hipster-esque picture you see above is actually that of electro artist Bath. And after listening to "Miasma Sky" there's an 88.2 percent chance that you'll want to paint yourself in tribal faint and frolic in a grassy field while holding that puppy from Trinidad Jame$' "All Gold Everything" video. Seriously.
Kate Nash "3AM" - Err, not sure if your average Hip-Hop fan can find themselves listening to Kate Nash's "3AM" more than once, but I think it's quite the quirky, little jam. Who knows, it might just end up as your favorite new indie jam too.
