Behind the Booth: 5 Questions with Crada
New York, NY -- Thus far in our Behind the Booth series, we've brought readers exclusive, five-question interviews with Richie Dollaz of Next Selection and Ted Lucas of Slip-n-Slide Records. For the third installment, we've posed the same five questions to Crada, the big-name producer responsible for "On My Way" and "Unstoppable" by DJ Kitsune, as well as D-Block's recently-featured "Get That Paper." A seven-year veteran of the music industry, Crada gives a few thoughts on timeless songwriting, as well as dropping some details on one of his most exciting recent projects.
What was your first job in the music industry?
My first job, which i would say was my first major-production, was released 2005 on Sony/BMG.
What is your proudest achievement?
I studied music for three years and just recently received my Bachelor of Arts degree. I really worked my a** off for it.
What projects are you currently working on?
I am working with a variety of artists all over Europe and the US right now. Genres differ from Hip Hop to Pop/R&B, but I also do a lot of electronic music. I'm really looking forward to the release of Talia Coles' debut LP. We recorded a serious HIT-RECORD. The Booth will love it.
How can the music industry prosper long-term?
I could easily write a dissertation to this [queston]. Primarily, it depends on how the artists understand their job. As long as there is good music, there will always be an industry. Artists need to take their time to let the music grow. People are rushing their releases nowadays. Time is what made the biggest songs become what they are today: classics. Just take Lionel Richie's "All Night Long". The arrangement and instrumentation is craaaazy! There are so many elements and melodies that you could easily create ten completely new songs.
What are your goals for 2009?
I have too many, but basically it comes down to just continuing to make good music!
