Brother Ali is nothing if not a man of the people, so The DJBooth thought it was only right to invite the people to talk directly to the Rhymesayers emcee. Seriously, go ahead, ask Brother Ali anything; he'll then pick the best questions and answer them in an exclusive interview.

You can submit your questions in the comments below, or via our Facebook page. The question submission period will end this Friday, September 14.

In the meantime, make sure you're prepared for the release of Ali's Mourning in America & Dreaming in Color album, dropping September 18.

(1A) Would you be interested in working with one (or more) of the more well-known international Jewish Hip Hop artists on a 'pride' record on which Muslims and Jews sound off on who they are and where they come from, shining alongside each other as opposed to in opposition? (1B) If so, how would one best reach out to you?

How do you feel about working with up & coming or unknown yet talented artists? Does popularity, image, and a name mean anything to you?

What or who inspired you to rap in the first place? Also, how did you go about meeting other rappers like slug?

Salamualaykum Brother,

I was wondering if you'd be interested in making a song or couple of songs about the rise of protests and movements in Syria and my family's home country Iraq. The dictators both in Syria and Iraq have been oppressing our brothers and sisters out there for so long, but I feel the American public has no idea what is really going on out there. It would be awesome if that could happen.

Allah Ma'ak,

Karam

Peace Ali!

As a Muslim living in a country that Islamophobia is pretty much accepted, how do you think the Arab spring will affect peoples perception of this amazing religion?
PS Are you a Twin Cities Omega Universal ZULU Nation member?

What is your take on the state of hip hop and the music industry today? Rhymesayers are taking a different approach than the mainstream madness, do you think this is a new trail for other underground artists to follow?

PS
I saw how your presence affected that young albino kid and influenced him to start rhyming, as well as helped him accept who he his. Your sound is not just words that rhyme over dope beats by Jakeone and Ant, your music connects with us because you speak the truth about what is going on...struggle, poverty, addiction, loss, handcuffs, all out street warfare.

Every single person I play one of your songs for on my radio station asks one question: "Who is this?" and want more. Thank you for keeping the positive, spiritual power alive in hip hop.

How was it working with Jake One on this new record? How is it different from working with Ant and what other producers would you love to work with on future projects?

You have verses on a lot of other peoples tracks, have you considered hooking up with another MC for an entire album? If so, do you have anyone in mind, or are you waiting to find the right match up?

How do you feel about Lupe Fiasco's current situation regarding the stance he's claiming to make against the corruption and manipulation by major labels? Do you find his public discrepancies genuine or do you believe its merely for attention? Where do you see the industry in 3 years, considering more and more artists are taking the independent route instead of chasing record deals, and is it worth it?

How do you think, as a Muslim, that Islam, or any other religions, can begin to reconcile their past and current atrocities and move forward onto a more peaceful future? How has your faith changed you life, and how do you think it can change others?

What advice would you give to all the young artists out there who are just beginning to take music seriously? What would you recommend them to do to improve their delivery, flow, matching lyrics to beats, etc?

How do you feel about Muslims who take every word and story of the Holy Qur'an to be literal and harm themselves and others in order to fulfill these ideals? How can we stop this?
