Theo Martins - You Can’t Do That On Television
Artist: Theo Martins
Twitter: Theo Martins on Twitter
Theo Martins, the Rhode Island native who released his Channel Surfin’ mixtape just last month, has hooked up with DJBooth.net to present his latest street release, You Can’t Do That On Television.
Inspired by the Canadian sketch comedy show (and, later, Nickelodeon staple) of the same name, the seven-track set sees Theo and producer $port blending elements of early-‘90s hip-hop with more futuristic musical influences.
Included on the project are previously-featured, Booth-approved cuts “Kirby’s Airwalk” and (as a bonus track) “Goodwill Hunting (RZA ‘94 Dreams).”

I like the sounds on this mixtape. Young definitely has great potential and homie went in on the production tip. Get's my stamp. DOPE. Love that hip hop feeling.

Quality over quantity... thats why MORE artists need to release EPs. No filler, just dope music from beginning to end.

The piano in the background on some of this songs added an element that complimented his flow very well. The layed back beat in The Letter was smooth...
A good production overall, I want to see what else Theo Martins comes up with. |

way too introduce this album with a emotionally trapping "letter" way too grab attention that was a great lead up too the other work on this EP.
haha hey used samples from that christian pianist in the Monocle i can recognize that piano play anywhere, since after all my mother was a big fan. the name seems to elude me though. lovin the james bond type theme in the beat of "checkin In'--- "my flow is like you spittin like you got spinache iin your teeth" haha wow that was my favorite track reall hott beat nice play with that!!! 4 spins real solid EP i would definitely go too listen too him live sounds hype plus complimets too production on goodwill hunting really loving the changup into the more spin dj inspired vocals within the beat |

"The Letter" was a good opening and I could tell where the production was heading but to me got lost in the rest. To me this EP's production seemed confused and unfinished. Meaning, Theo's lyrics were tight but the composition of the tracks didn't seem to hit the mark of its intendid idea. Some songs ended and had some off the wall ??? (filler)behind them.
The Letter was good and Something to Remember was the other good track but it had that strange filler behind it. Theo was nice but this project didn't do him justice. |

The Intro was definitely very subtle and the cover art was also very unique, but I lost interest of the EP as I played through the songs. The production was amazing, but the songs couldn't match up to it.

@DJ Z, I agree. I'd been waiting for this after hearing "Kirby's Airwalk", which is my favorite off of this. I liked this and definitely can't wait to hear what he has next.

Theo & $, two of my favourite artists. YCDTOTV is Utter genius. Lyrically and melodically, this EP is contributing to the revival of hip-hop.

This producer has won over my heart...great beats on every song, especially monocle it blew my mind. Honestly I think the MC is pretty average. Just for the content of his raps though plus the amazing production i give it 4 stars. o, and to "$port" i wish you could get some of these beats to cats like fashawn or blu, they would sound dope over em

Beats are excellent
Lyrics killed, not a lot of punchlines, but meaningful, sensational lyrics. Keep up the very good work you got here |

Theo Martins has a lot of talent and definitely needs to get more exposure. I love the laid back flow of this mixtape, instrumentally and lyrically.
