Golden State rhymesayer Stevie Crooks has come together with LRG Clothing and The DJBooth to bring listeners his latest street release, the Cashmere Killer LP.
Inspired by ‘90s hip-hop, the project features 13 nostalgia-drenched records (plus one bonus cut) from the underground emcee. Included on the tracklist are reader-approved leaks “Iverson” and “GRG.”
Erin Darcel makes the sole guest appearance on Cashmere Killer, which features production by Zeniro, Tut Piece, Large Professor, BeastBySadik, Vanilla, Nick Wiz and Jansport J.

Dude sounds like a 94-95' version of Jay Z. Sorry fam, the flow sounds badly borrowed.

Cashmere Killer is a clear homage to what hip hop once was, and what its grown from. Apparently some clown n*ggas cant comprehend that. It's not only dope, but remarkable in its structure, wordplay, and power. Stevie's come a long way, and its about time he's received his past due AND well deserve notoriety. He's shown progression in each and every album, song, concept and bar, never ceasing to raise it.

Classic tape; straight 90s flow with hint of that new modern day groove

So jazzy. I could play this tape without skipping a song.

Completely stole early jay-z's flow, the beats sound too similar, the wordplay is pretty decent nothing standing out incredibly. More features would have made some of the songs easier to listen all the way through. If he spit a straight smooth flow instead pausing at awkward times I would have liked it more. Through all that though, it's pretty solid but shouldnt be compared to pop rap cuz this is competing for different listeners. Not a bad tape at all, keep it up.

Still repping the Golden Era sound of Hip Hop. "Product of the 90's - '95 I'm rappin" - So for anyone thinking he too old school, it's obviously on purpose. The music complements this style of rapping great, though I do wish there would be at least a few Bangers, production-wise. He obviously even takes an old school (minimalistic) approach to recording. Overall, definitely car riding music. Or get-in-the-vibe earbud music. Wouldn't expect to hear it on the radio or at a club, but I don't think Stevie Crooks expects that either. I also appreciate the original music, CSTC mixtape was all jack4beats style. Honestly I think I like his mixtape Diamonds & Guns a bit more. Haven't listened to WINE mixtape... but somehow think that would be my favorite... Overall, I think the hooks were a bit better on D&G's also. But once again, another solid project by Stevie Crooks.
