Portland, Oregon duo Moxie Black have joined forces with DJBooth.net to bring fans their highly-anticipated freshman full-length, How Did This Happen?.

The debut project from rapper iLLA aka iLLAJ and producer Brian “Dekk” Dekker is a marriage of opposites. With rock-inspired arrangements, R&B melodies, electro-pop beats and swagger-drenched rhymes, the project’s 11 tracks span the gap between heartbreak and reconciliation; success and failure, hip-hop and indie.

Featuring reader-approved leaks “Risky Bizness” and “So Much Better,” the album proper is produced entirely by Dekk and includes no outside collaborators. The project’s three bonus cuts, however, incorporate production by The Dust Will Settle, as well as remixes of Phoenix and Passion Pit.

This is a remarkable project. It shouldn't be free but the fact that it is gives you every more of the reason to download it. I feel like these guys represent the future and they're well on their way to taking off, they just need our push.

Great mixtape. I liked pretty much every song I heard on here. The production is great and iLLAJ delivers lyrically.

This is comparable (along the lines, rather) to what B.E.P. is doing... actually, it's lyrically superior. (I would say throw B.E.P.'s 1st, 3rd, and last released album together, fuse in some 'Ye, shake, and balance some Dwele, and voila!) I can't believe this is free.

I feel like a hater but I just can't get down to this kind of 'hip hop'. I will agree with the other reviewer. It sounds like BEP and that's not a good thing to me. It's too pop and I think it deviates too far from hip hop to be considered as such.
