North Carolina-bred, Brooklyn-based crew Kooley High have hooked up with DJBooth.net to bring listeners Eastern Standard Time, their first release since 2008’s acclaimed The Summer Sessions EP.

The project features 15 brand new tracks from Charlie Smarts, Rapsody, Tab One and company, including Booth-premiered leak “Ya Time’s Up.”

In addition to the boardwork of group members Foolery and The Sinopsis, EST features production by K-Salaam & Beatnick and Napoleon Wright II. Guest appearances come courtesy of fellow N.C. natives Median and HaLo.

Update (January, ‘11): EST will be re-released in February by Fat Beats and will be available for sale.

This is the type of sh** I need.crisp and clean beats that make you move. I dig the production its has a 70s feel with todays funk.

Not bad at all.

What's the meaning of Kooley High? I heard that sample from Nas' Memory Lane in there where he mentioned it.

After a few spins I'm loving this even more. They're like a cross between Jurassic 5 and Fugees with a little Tribe Called Quest thrown in. I change my rating to 4 stars.
