ATL artist Aleon Craft has joined forces with SMKA to release his highly-anticipated new mixtape, The Stargazing Soundtrack, hosted by Mick Boogie and Terry Urban and available for exclusive download via DJBooth.net.
Mixed/mastered by Robert Earl McDaniell lll (of SMKA) and executive produced by the SMKA crew, the project comes complete with reader-approved leaks “Brand New Day,” “Donkey Kong” and “A Different World.”
Joining Craft throughout the mixtape are Nappy Roots, Hollyweerd, Mikkey Halsted, Bobby Creekwater, Playboy Tre, Young Scolla, Jarren Benton, Grip Plyaz, Tom P and C# Sharp. In addition to the production of SMKA, the project features beats by Sol Messiah, Doe, and Roundtable Kings.

Some real good tracks on this. My favorite is Project Blue Beam, but I also like Early Moan and Moon Walk Her. Aleon is a combination of Cudi, Parliament, and Andre 3000

A really solid tape with great production and overall sound. Great for the casual listener or aficionado. A sweet mix of styles.

This sounds kinda like the generally awful attempt of NY underground rappers of today trying to recapture a golden sound (ie: Golden Age Hip Hop aka "Real Hip Hop"). This is similar in vein where this guy tries to capture the same sound of Outkast and that 90s organic ATL sound. It's only ironic that his name is Aleon Kraft, an obvious reference to ATLiens, considering the sound he is going after. It's not half bad cause he is heavily influenced by the Dungeon Sound and that is usually a good thing if anything lol.
