Mic Little Interview

At thirteen years old, he can’t legally drive, vote, gamble or drink. However, he can legally file his taxes under the highest income bracket, which in the meantime should help him make it through the next eight years.
He also can’t run as fast as the world class sprinter by the same name, Michael Johnson, but Def Jam’s Mic Little can sing with the best of them. Born in Englewood and raised in Watts, this West Coast native grew up idolizing the sweet sounds of The Gap Band and The Jackson Five. Closely following their personified hit making abilities, (before even starting to shave), Mic Little used his skills in songwriting and note belting to attract attention from the right people.
Discovered while singing in his church on a regular Sunday morning, Mic has gone from local community talent to slowly emerging national superstar. His new single, Put It in a Letter, featuring label mate Ne-Yo is a flashback to the golden years of R&B music. Having just reached the platinum status on his own debut recording, Ne-Yo had the following to say about his collaborator: ”Mic Little has some of the truest and rawest talent I have seen in a long time from a young singer.”
During his interview with DJBooth.net’s DJ “Z,” Mic Little talks about the pressures of balancing a music career at a very young age, how he is able to use his skills to woo the ladies in his life towards his direction, and what he plans to do with his name once he gets older and grows taller.
