Twenty-one year old lyricist, A-Pinks, from Queens NY is hungry and on a mission.  Blessed with a god given ability to charismatically captivate his listeners, his name has bounced around both the internet and mix tape circuit (DJ Whoo Kid, P-Cutta, Kay-Slay, Custmaster C and DJ Envy).  After beginning to slowly blow up Online search engines, the title of his latest mix tape collaboration with G-Unit’s official mix tape DJ, Whoo Kid, helped push his name out even further.  Working independently with the guidance of a good home team, A-Pinks is looking to become more than just the next big thing in New York.

“Everybody’s a rapper. My issue is how many of those dudes are willing to take it off the block and into the eyes of the nation. Way too much stagnancy going on where I rest at, I see some of the most talented people everyday not doing anything about it,” says A-Pinks.

Although it remains virtually impossible to be both a conscious artist (speaking your mind freely) and a marketable artist (easily garnering radio play and video rotation), A-Pinks hopes to conquer that battle.  With lyrical content that speaks volumes for an entire community, not playing into the hands of typical catchy-hook based music is hard.  However, with a confident mind frame and undeniable swagger there isn’t a fight worth backing down from.

During his interview with DJBooth.net’s DJZ,” A-Pinks talks about his success thus far on an independent level, why he will begin to be a household name come 2007, and how the city of New York can begin to get their hip-hop shine on once again.
