SelahJones_80's TOP HIP HOP SINGLES

Kardinal Offishall Kardinal Offishall - “Dangerous ft. Akon”

“I could actually do with a little less Akon on this track (never was a BIG fan of his), but it's still FIRE nonetheless. Been lovin' Kardinal since "Bakardi Slang" days...”

Yung Ralph
Yung Ralph - “I Work Hard”

“The track itself is hot - they were sick with that sample. But I can actually dig the lyrics just as much.... It *sounds* like the typical Southern FEELIN' MYSELF genre that seems to be all the rage with the kids these days, but if you really listen, the way ol' boy tells his story is much more personal and on point than these other egocentric bastards. Hell, I was raised by the dopest single mom ever. I made my way out, but to the heart I'm from the 'hood. I listen to the oldies and I damn sure work hard - so this ish is rockin' to me. Might be my new anthem.”

DJ GQ
DJ GQ - “Bad Boys ft. DMX, Junior Reid & Dawg E Slaughter”

“Oh yeah... classic Dark Man. I'd definitely cop the comeback album - just out of loyalty to "It's Dark..." Plus I'd cop it out of curiousity - who else signed on to work with him? Will he go back to the original flow, or incorporate his (latest) personal issues into his lyrics (a la Lauryn Hill Unplugged)? What does he have to say about the current state of hip-hop? Inquiring minds wanna know...but I'm still bumping this cut 'til I find out.”
