Kid CuDi - “Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager”
“3.5 from me. My opinion is that I liked the first one because it was just so much different than what anyone was used to, and I could vibe to almost every song on the album. This album at a first listen, appeared to suck to me. But after going through it a few times, there's at least 5 songs I can get on board with. 1. Ghost! 2. The End 3. Mr. Rager 4. The Mood 5. Scott Mescudi Vs. The World sidenote: Wylin Cause I'm Young is an alright song, but I'm not sure what it's doing on this album. Fair review, Nathan.” Dan H.'s Rating:![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Eminem - “Recovery”
“@ReturnofSanta: Well I guess every album is a classic, because that happens with every album. Listen, I thought it was a great album. But I wanted to be vibing to this from beginning to end. Unfortunately, I found myself skipping half the songs. There are definitely a few songs I will listen to for awhile, but the rest of the album was forgettable. My favorites in order. 1. Going Through Changes (easily the best song on the album) 2. Not Afraid 3. 25 to life 4. No Love 5. Love the way you Lie No Love, and Love the way you Lie will get plenty of radio play. (Love the way you Lie has already been on the radio)” Dan H.'s Rating:![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Drake - “Thank Me Later”
“I've been lurking without reviewing for over a month now, so much that I forgot my password to log into rate this. But I recovered it, and everything is cool now, so expect a pretty long, in-depth rating here. I'd like to start out by saying- I really enjoy Drake's versatility. His three official mixtapes have been in my itunes since last summer. You can really hear the difference when you compare any of them. "So Far Gone" being the most accepted, and definitely the best of the three, IMO. Some say this album didn't meet what was expected. Well, it did for me. I was expecting a continuation of "So Far Gone". And I can't Necessarily say this is better than SFG, It's pretty damn close. I'm so into everything he does, I'm just happy for new material. Only a few rappers do that to me, and none of them, besides drake, started rapping after the 90's. I will address those I feel like addressing before my in-depth song reviews. @DCguy: I think you're pretty spot on. Accept for Roth's freshman album. I hated it, and the songs he's put out in between releasing his sophmore album are a thousand times better than what he put out before. I do agree he's worthy of a comparison to the other three rappers you've mentioned, just not that album. My list goes something like: 1. TML 2. Attention: Deficit 3. Man on the Moon All three were classics, in my book. Wale really surprised me with such a different layout from his mixtapes. True hip hop. @Matthew Kyle: What risks? There is absolutely nothing new here since So Far Gone dropped. What, bigger guest features? That's the only thing that really changed. @donjonjon: I can't really see any of these songs fitting into the club scene. And thank god for small favors. I didn't want to be stuck listening to songs I'll end up resenting when I'm not behind a girl. Also, I think over fits in just fine. It's really hard to fit in songs ready for the radio into the grand scheme of the album, because it was sort of a forced thing. If you want to complain, I thought "Find Your love" felt completely out of place. @FriedRico: Sort of off-topic, but I think J.Cole gets more hype than he deserves. I mean, if you're going to claim drake's hype was too much. I usually like fan favorites of the booth, but J.Cole is just not the one. @Blknight84: I'm one to completely resent his radio features, and feel it's not the real Drake I'm hearing. But yet I'm a devoted fan who only holds Nas and Jay-Z(respectively) over him. I really wish you could explain that. I've spent the past five years listening to non-radio hip hop every day, and yet, I can't stop listening to this person you may refer to as the latest "Radio God" of our time. Huh, weird. @//NC//: I'm with you 100 percent. Welp, That's all the reviews on the first 50 reviews. I'd really like some rebuttal, if you do get a chance to look back on reviews. (seems like a weird thing to do, even though I will.(I'm weird)) @everyone complaining about how he now raps about how much money and b1tches he's getting: What the hell do you expect? People draw their material from what they are experiencing. Although I'm not a huge fan of this either, he has a way of making it appeal to true hip hop listeners. I don't know how he seems to do it, but only another reason to respect and be grateful for his many skills. I won't really get too in-depth on every track, but here it goes. 1. Fireworks Great intro. I've seen this track in a few people's top list for the album, and I think it's well deserving. It really builds up to the rest of the album, and Alicia keys was great on the hook. I wouldn't be surprised if we had another song like this on Drake's sophomore album. (Oh god, I'm already thinking about his next album) 10/10 2. Karaoke Most people aren't really liking this song. I really love this song. I think it's way better than "Find Your Love", and I don't think that rap-verse was out of place. I do think the 2nd vocal verse was a bit..eh.. But overall, this was a solid track. 9/10 3. The Resistance Am I the only one that hears a quieter "Say What's Real" here? It might be the beat, but those timeless verses he put on the song might also make a difference. The only thing I didn't like was the intro. I thought it was sorta..can you sound cheesy when you're talking about smoking weed? 10/10 4. Over Not my favorite song on the album. It certainly helps transcend into some more fast-pace songs, since Fireworks, Karaoke, and The Resistance are all on the soft side, but I can't really say this is in the top 3 on the album. 9/10 5. Show me a Good Time The intro is pretty annoying, and I skipped it the first time playing, but you know Drake is all about making things work, so after going back to it to hear the verse-work, the beat was pretty irrelevant. Definitely some of his best lyrical work on the whole album. 9/10 6. Up All Night Was not really feeling it. It'll be a great car song. Well, that is, until Nicki Minaj's verse comes on. What the hell was that, man.. She's completely ridiculous. She single-handedly made this song amongst the worst on the whole album. And I hope others will agree with me. 7/10 7. Fancy Eh, Swizz Beatz is inconsistent. When I saw this feature, I was praying for an "On to the Next One" type of feel, but it wasn't the case this time around. The guest features made this song worse on a beat and message I couldn't really relate to anyways. 8/10 8. Shut it Down I thought I was going to hate this song, but I can't help but sit through the whole song. (and it's pretty long) I listen to this song and can only appreciate what Drake can do. It really was a good wind-down from the three songs before. I could listen to this song and be in a bad mood, and then all of a sudden I'll get lost in it. And then it feels like it's over way too fast. I guess that's what Drake and Dream felt when they played it back. "One more verse"."Too much to cut down when this becomes a radio hit." 9. Unforgettable I thought this was a great song. The only thing that was forgettable was Jeezy's verse. I would have been a lot happier if he just did the chorus, because even though I'm starting to really dislike Jeezy, I can not say that hook was not incredible. Drake was on point, as he was in every song thus far besides Fancy. 9/10 10. Light Up Timeless song. Why? Drake's verse isn't one of his bests, but it works. Jay-Z's verse isn't one of his bests, but it works. Amazing beat that just seems to work with the song. Drake was slightly better than Jay-Z on this one for me, just because Drake gets right to it and spits a hard verse. 10/10 11. Miss Me It's funny how people think Drake was outshined by every guest feature besides Lil Wayne, and I think the exact opposite. The first time I spun this, all I could think was these two big names, how well they compliment each other. Drake's verse is semi-hard, while Lil Wayne slows it down a bit. When it cuts to "I'm a love machine, and I won't work for nobody but you", I get goose bumps every time. 10/10 12. Cece's Interlude It's an interlude, get over it. (no rating) 13. Find Your Love "The best track of the album". I too gave this song a great review when it was featured awhile ago. I did express how I felt about how I wish I could hear him rapping, but I knew it would be a nice blend of all of his styles. However, this does not fit in. Compared to the rest of the album, this song screams, "That one song all the girls will like so they don't b1tch". But hey, I'm not saying it's a bad song, I like it. I like it a lot. I think it's really great, but it doesn't belong on this album. 9/10 14.Thank me Now I can't recall a better outro to an album ever. This is an instant classic. I think it might just be the best on the whole album, and hey, that's good right? Leave us wanting more. I like how Drizzy thinks. 10/10 I bought this album last Wednesday, well after I heard it. And I was more than happy to buy it. Is it a classic? It depends on what you mean. This was going to be a classic to me either way. But to deliver anything near to how great SFG, I am here to officially give my thanks to Drake. I will leave you with a direct quote from Drake regarding his album being leaked. “I gave away free music for years so we’re good over here,” the rapper, who built his buzz on mixtapes years before signing a record deal, posted to his Twitter account following the leak. He followed up with one simple request: “Just allow [the album] to be the soundtrack to your summer and ENJOY! JUNE 15th!”” Dan H.'s Rating:![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
