coldmachine's TOP HIP HOP SINGLES

J-Kwon
J-Kwon - “Mr. Fly”

“Where to start...love it. It's a very well controlled piece audio art. From the synthed out strings to the organic percussive element of the occasional "uhhh" ...it banged from beginning to like intergalactic African war drums. Loved J's delivery. He completely ripped this track and while his wordplay wasn't intricate, it was still effective --he could be a hood Steinbeck. So yeah, I'll agree the premise that began the whole joint -- way hotter than lit matches.”

Question? Question? - “Me and a Gun”

“I really appreciate this song for highlighting the shortcomings of our society and pointing out the human cost of its' failures. I especially appreciate Questions ability to make a topic invoked ad nauseam in hip hop fresh and worth revisiting. Great lyrics...great beat...great song.”

Mos Def
Mos Def - “History”

“Feeling this track like no other. I love Mos, I love Talib and the beat highlighted their vocal and lyrical talents well. Of course, I'm with DaMack..why not call it Blackstarr? I suppose it must be that Blackstarr is so sublime and wonderful that it can only pop up in name every hundred years like friggin brigadoon.”

Jay-Z Jay-Z - “D.O.A. (Death of Autotune)”

“First let me say when Jay speaks I bow my head like someone spoke the name of the Lord or John Lennon...so forgive me if I ride the cock harder than Perez Hilton in Southbeach...that said, Jay ripped this shit so thorughly that 2000 years from now it's gong to bust the head of an alien that catches the the transmission on an intergalatic sack run and to ---YE... who was no id's friend? Me...bro is sick like an icu ward.”
