Obecalp's TOP HIP HOP SINGLES

Tayma Loren
Tayma Loren - “Tipsy”

“Been a while since I've heard something like this; catching beat and harmonies, and good sounding artist. Nothing special, but I found it enjoyable.”

Sade Sade - “Soldier of Love”

“Absolutely blown away by how this sounds, the production subtly intricate. Absolutely different and modern sounding compared to her old stuff, yet it has this "feel" to it that reminds me of her old stuff. Side note: they have to use this as an intro for the next Bond flick.”

Trey Songz Trey Songz - “I Invented Sex (Remix)”

“DJ Z: "Usher sounds great here - he needs to pick a single that sounds more like this for himself." -> I couldn't agree more, he needs a hot track with this kind of sound to relaunch. This remix is a huge improvement over the original, the hotness definitely jumped up a few notches. Tracks like this always sound better when there are some female verses to play off of. In this case, getting a hot commodity like Keri Hilson worked perfectly. I still would've liked to hear the beat improved a bit. It was a bit on the generic side, a better beat for the remix would've really stepped it up.”

Donell Jones Donell Jones - “Bad Boy”

“Now THIS is a solid RnB track! It`s definitely more upbeat and snappy compared to his previous stuff, but it`s nice to hear something like this. I still think he needs a good breakout record though.”

Fly Gypsy
Fly Gypsy - “You”

“Fly Gypsy has seriously impressed me with all they're putting out. Just such a brilliant musicality to the verses. Something fresh about them, can't quite figure out what it exactly is...”

Melanie Fiona Melanie Fiona - “It Kills Me”

“Probably a little slow for listeners here, but I'm quite blown away at how good this track is. And most of that is due to Melanie Fiona's fantastic voice. All her singles have had her distinct flavor to them that I thoroughly enjoy. I think it's the way she sings with that 'short-of-breath-quivering-run' on verses that really vibes with me; very sultry. It seems like she could have a hot track with a male singer to play off of, with someone like Usher or the likes. Though I think she'd destroy'em on the track. Either way, I hope she comes out with a breakthrough single that can really get her name out.”

Rick Ross Rick Ross - “All I Really Want (Remix)”

“I don't know what it is, but for some unexplainable reason, I seldom get tired of all the remixed Rick Ross tracks. It must have something to do with his addictive beats and the flow of the track. His beats are so smooth but the beats hit so hard, fluid and fast. Loved the Twista bit, he threw it down like his old stuff, DEFINITELY a positive contribution to this track. I don't think there was anything new from the-dream on this one. I'm impartial to Krayz's part in this. It's always been a good track for me, the additions gave it a little refresher, that's all.”

Trey Songz Trey Songz - “I Need A Girl (Remix)”

“Fab did to this track what he did to The-Dream's Rockin' That Thang; setting the flow and rhythm for the rest of the song, his contribution may seem insignificant, but it definitely compliments the song in a positive way. Teyana Taylor provides some nice harmonies to trey songz, but nothing that really changed the dynamics of the song. This has been my fav rnb track for the past couple months and this remix has given it a bit of a refresher. My one gripe is that took away Trey's "Sitting Patient, Steady Waiting, for the day when I can face it", which really vibe'd with me (can't really explain why), with Teyana Taylor's cleverly placed "Boy I'm waiting, Got me Patient, and today is the day that you face it". Some little touches where I would consider this a 'smart' remix. Like.”
