Matty K's TOP HIP HOP SINGLES

Emanny Emanny - “Time Is Up”

“I don't know if it's just me, but it seems like at times Emmany's voice could easily be mistaken for Trey Songz'. That's a good thing, especially considering Trey's everywhere right now. I'm surprised he's unsigned (and with Jadakiss contributing? Really?)”

BK Cyph - “iQuit”

“I don't think anyone's going to forget Cyph at all, especially with a beat like that behind him.”

Folkz Folkz - “The Waiting Line”

“For some reason, it seems like some thunder, lightning, and rain sound effects would have worked well in the backgroud. Even though both emcees do an excellent job, the production and hook are the highlights. The mood overpowers the message in this case.”

Rocki Evans Rocki Evans - “Fantastic”

“This works so well as a summer radio song; it's light, relaxing, and smooth. I was on the fence about his use of Kanye's verse from Brandy's "Talk About Our Love," but it fits.”

“I hate to be a little bit of a divisive force here, but no doubt, this track lives up to the hype surrounding it. I don't know if Nicki can carry an entire album on her own, but it absolutely works here. If you're not feeling it, listen to it more than once and give it bass.”

Hollywood FLOSS Hollywood FLOSS - “Mr. Big Stuff”

“I think this is the first track I've ever heard that has height as a theme. That's hilarious! It sounds like it would fit perfectly as the theme song for a sitcom, or something similar. I wonder how tall he is? If he mentioned it, I must have missed it. Under 5'10" obviously.”

Costell Costell - “Timeless (Intro)”

“It didn't take long for this one to get me...had to replay the first verse before even listening to the rest of the song. Nice.”

(iam) James Wade (iam) James Wade - “Smile”

“I have to admit that the opening for this track was a little strange - I didn't really know where it was going - but once it got started I was hooked. I think this is one of those "let it grow on you" tracks.”

Capeech - “She's Gone”

“This track is a throwback in some ways, and I think that's what gives it its charm. I liked this after hearing the first few seconds of it.”

“When Wale first stepped out on the scene I didn't really know what to make of him, but I'm slowly starting to admire him more and more. This one's pretty cool.”

Laws Laws - “Hold You Down”

“Production blew me away! I'm not a fan of the hook, but the production more than makes up for any microscopic flaws. Another Laws hit!”
