A.J. Crew - “Breathe Here”
“@djblaze I couldn't disagree with you more. @Sabzi Looks like you're writing a review for the first time. Let me help you. Clearly, your usage of the phrase "this beat has been sampled way better..." is indicative of the fact you don't know what you're talking about. First off, it's not a "beat", as you so eloquently put it, that's being sampled. It's a song. The source material you're speaking of is a song by Johnson, Hawkins, Tatum & Durr entitled "You Can't Blame Me". If you knew anything about real music production, you can clearly hear that the Pretty Lights flip on this material is a more intricate and layered take on the sample that adds depth, amazing drums, stuttered automation of the sample and great engineering. As for the delivery, think about the possibility that it was intentional to create a mellow vibe as the production calls to do so. Not "reading his rhymes off of paper" as you're suggesting. Usually, I'm impressed by the level of thought and insights offered by the community of DJBooth. Based off of these lacking, uninspired reviews, I can see that is not the case today.”Andrew-Jon Phommalee's Rating: Posted on Apr 17, 2013
