“Solid album from Jeezy, better than I expected.”

Follow Me Home Promo Photo Jay Rock - “Follow Me Home”

“Solid release from Jay Rock. I had heard of him because of "All My Life" but never really looked into him too much. This album sold me tho and I definitely copped it, its just nice to see the West Coast starting to come back. Solid album, the Black Hippy/HiiiPower movement is looking good. "Just Like Me" is one of the realest tracks I've heard, "Say Wassup" is a fun track with the Black Hippy crew trading bars and there are a number of highlights with a few slipups as well.”

Finally Famous Promo Photo Big Sean - “Finally Famous”

“Diggin the album, its been on replay, has a great summer vibe to it. I understand people will say its mainstream and commercial, thats fine, for me it was enjoyable. "Wait For Me", "Live This Life" and "My House" are the tracks that I didn't like. Other than that I thought it was a solid entry to mainstream.”

King of Hearts Promo Photo Lloyd - “King of Hearts”

“I'd give this a 3.5, definitely a nice fit with Polow Da Don for Lloyd, but there were some songs that were a bit generic. However, he is maturing, there were some real nice songs here (Lay It Down, Angel, This Is For My Baby and Dedication). He's improving, just not sure if he's quite in that conversation for King Of R&B. To me its still Trey Songz killin it.”

My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy Promo Photo Kanye West - “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy”

“The first classic rating and I have to say that I agree. Personally I argue plenty of times with my friends about what a classic album is and means. Many of them feel that a classic album drops every year, however I'm real picky and selective in which I define as classics, and often it is hard to find these past few years. This is probably one of the first albums that I can say might hold this title. Of course a classic is determined in time, but straight through its on point, production wise and lyrically. Ye did his thing, what a comeback.”

I Still Believe Promo Photo Lyfe Jennings - “I Still Believe”

“Really gonna miss Lyfe if he really does retire, but I respect his decision to spend more time into raising his kids and being with them. Throughout his career, he's always poured out his soul with real lyricism that isn't afraid of the norm. I believe that's what makes Lyfe so great, not only his heart wrenching raspy tone and soul in his music, but the words of someone who knows right and delivers wisdom. While many guys are hating on "Statistics", I respect that, because the hip hop that is out definitely promotes otherwise...Really a solid album, only a few generic productions, but lyrically and vocally its on point. "If Tomorrow Never Comes" is one of the realest tracks I've heard in a while, while "I Still Believe" is a real homely and family vibed joint. Enjoyed the album, not sure if its a classic though.”

Trill O.G. Promo Photo Bun B - “Trill O.G.”

“Solid album from Bun, it flows pretty well from top to bottom, but didn't quite impress me as match as I woulda liked. As many have stated above me, it seems a bit mainstream and commercial. Lyrically it isn't bad, but I kinda missed the social views Bun always spoke on and serious topics. Most of the topics are the typical stuff and lyrically it isn't bad, but there weren't too many lines that had me amazed. Regardless Bun knows how to make an album so it isn't bad, not a classic as The Source claims, but another solid H-Town release.”

Teflon Don Promo Photo Rick Ross - “Teflon Don”

“Ross's best album, a couple missteps, but overall im impressed. He did his thing, came correct with the music and guests. I don't know if Ross could do an album with him and no guests, but if the guests provide overall great music, I'm all for it. Solid album.”

Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty Promo Photo Big Boi - “Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty”

“Solid review and a big THANK YOU to Big Boi for dropping such a dope LP, in this world of singles. I've heard a lot of solid albums so far, (Reflection Eternal-RPM, Nas/Damian Marley-Distant Relatives, Drake-Thank Me Later, a few others) and I have to say. At this point of the year, Big Boi has the best album so far. I'd say it edges out Distant Relatives slightly. Really liked the vibe of "Shine Blockas", "Shutterbugg" was dope, "General Patton" was straight heat, the rest of the album is a combination of genres, successfully done. With that being said, screw Jive for not allowing Big Boi to collab wit Andre, really a pity. @Nathan S.-You hear that new Nappy Roots-Pursuit Of Nappyness? Quality album there, we need a review!!!”

Attention Deficit Promo Photo Wale - “Attention Deficit”

“Nice new face for hip hop that's putting D.C. on the map which is cool. He's got some nice punchlines and humor, shows versatility on a number of tracks. Look forward to hearing more, solid debut.”

Ready Promo Photo Trey Songz - “Ready”

“Wow....really surprised that so many of you guys weren't feelin the album. I really thought it was his best album, I mean, I understand not really having an identity, but I think its forgivable because of his talent. There were some mistakes, "LOL :-)", "Say Aah", but I thought it was a really solid effort by Trey. It was better than the overly club/hip hop Trey Day, and had more confident vocals than his debut. I understand he's not quite dropped that classic, but I definitely thought this album solidified him as one of the best, cause I can bump this top to bottom without complaints and have really been enjoyin it.”

Boss of all Bosses Promo Photo Slim Thug - “Boss of all Bosses”

“I really think that Slim did a nice job with this album. Already Platinum was a good album, had some interesting production for Thugga to spit on and it worked. It was much more diverse, here Thugga drops some street bangers that I think were true to his roots and showed he can still drop those H-Town bangers. I like, "I'm Back" (explains his experience in the industry), "I Run" (straight banger), "Top Drop" (chill track), "Thug" (H-Town synth is dope+sample), "Associates" (dope track), "Welcome 2 Houston" (possibly my favorite track, I don't care if its 8 minutes long, its a banger that has a summer vibe to it, as well as some dope verses from Houston's best, including Pimp C at the end!). Good album for Thugga, I copped this.”

UGK 4 Life Promo Photo UGK - “UGK 4 Life”

“album definitely has its bangers and is real smooth. Nice job by Bun B and company, I been bumpin this album a lot lately. "Everybody Wanna Ball", "The Pimp & The Bun", "Used To Be", and "Da Game Been Good To Me" are my personal favorites, but the album is good overall. Copped it too. R.I.P. Pimp C”

The Humdinger Promo Photo Nappy Roots - “The Humdinger”

“couldn't agree more with you Charlie, truly a great album that is true to the Nappy Roots style. Despite those two tracks you mentioned that aim for mainstream appeal, its got a whole lot of feel good country music that Nappy is known for. Really love "No Static", "Beads & Braids", "Small Town" and "Down N Out". But overall I really like the whole album, its a pity that all the fans they garnered may not know about the album. Definitely coppin.”
