Back to Black Promo Photo Amy Winehouse - “Back to Black”

“I had to come back for this one! Nathan, I think it's wonderful that you're doing this. For the past two weeks I have had people tell me they are either happy or don't care that Amy has died. I was heartbroken. The fact that you did this review shows me that there is someone out there who cares like me. Thank you.”

Purp & Patron Promo Photo Game - “Purp & Patron”

“It's good he put this out. He worked hard on this and when he works hard, he gets noticed. Game has put out some incredible albums, and while none of them were classics they will not be forgotten. Hopefully with this he can release the RED album and get back to doing what he does best.”

Last Train to Paris Promo Photo Diddy-Dirty Money - “Last Train to Paris”

“I can honestly say I enjoyed this album a lot more than I thought I would, and I will be buying it tomorrow. Will I admit that Diddy doesn't posses the mic skills to match some of his guests on here? Sure. But that for me was actually not a bid deal seeing as he doesn't actually rap that much on this album. 3.5/5”

Pink Friday Promo Photo Nicki Minaj - “Pink Friday”

“Ah yes. Nicki Minaj. What to say. Well, what I have to say is that I'm impressed with this album. I liked it a lot more than I thought I would. Sure, there are songs that I would instantly skip (actually, "Did It On Em" is the only one I would never listen to again.) but otherwise, I found this album very enjoyable. Obviously, my favorite song is "Blazin", for obvious sample reasons. Which brings me to the main reason why I love this album. It wasn't the above average lyrics coming from Nicki, but the production. I absolutely loved it.”

Loud Promo Photo Rihanna - “Loud”

“Yeah I would agree with this review. Although I think it deserved a 3.5, and is probably one of the better pop albums of the year. Despite this album being "Loud" in a lyrical sense, Rihanna does actually sing "Loud" on this album. On "S&M", "Only Girl (In The World", she is singing as "Loud" as her voice will let her, and I like that she is pushing her vocals a little more. Like Nathan said, no song on this album is bad. My personal favorites are "Complicated", "S&M", and "What's My Name?". I do have some grippes about the album. First off, it is clearly a step back from "Rated R". That is an incredible album. But, she did say after recording "Rated R" that her next album would be more like her older ones, so it's not like we didn't expect this. Also, there are only eleven tracks on here as well, which I'm not sure of, but it has to be the fewest on a Rihanna album. That basically means that if one or two of the tracks on the album are not repeatable, then that brings the rating of the album down by a lot. Of course, I have to remember that she has had less than a year to record this, which makes me realize that she did a pretty damn good job with what's on this album. Overall, I think that this will go down as one of her worst albums, and while I'm sure it will sell better than "Rated R", it still is nowhere near what that album is. 3.5 "Very Good"”

The Lady Killer Promo Photo Cee-Lo Green - “The Lady Killer”

“Thank god this came out sooner rather than later. I need something to keep me from listening to Kanye's new album. With that said, I must say that this is one of the best R&B albums of the year! It's so diverse yet so familiar! Since I'm a huge fan of the 80's my obvious favorite is "Bright Lights Bigger City". But the rest of the album is fantastic too. From the experimental "Bodies" to the old fashioned well "Old Fashioned", this is a great album. Go and get it now!”

Wake Up Promo Photo John Legend - “Wake Up”

“This could be my favorite review you have ever done. Beautiful. Just like this album. When the end of the year comes, it's going to be really hard to pick best collaborative album because between this and "Distant Relatives", I surely can't. My favorite cover was "Little Ghetto Boy". My mouth dropped to the floor when I heard that track. Incredible.”

Passion, Pain & Pleasure Promo Photo Trey Songz - “Passion, Pain & Pleasure”

“When I heard the first track off this album, not the intro, I knew right away that Trey had stepped his game up. Along with being a trending topic on twitter since it's release, this album really delivers, and is his best to date. The only track I didn't like was "Bottoms Up". It sounded like something that belonged on his last album and didn't fit in with the rest of the material.”

Trill O.G. Promo Photo Bun B - “Trill O.G.”

“Man this is a great year for hip-hop. Nothing but solid albums and near-classics. Still no classic though. This is just classic Bun. Just as good as his first two solo albums. My favorite track is "Right Now". Pac fits in great there, and Trey Songs is surprisingly not annoying on that track. Anyways another great album from another great summer.”

Teflon Don Promo Photo Rick Ross - “Teflon Don”

“I knew exactly what you were going to give this Nathan and I couldn't agree with you more. Rick Ross is the guilty pleasure of rap. This is his best album to date. I haven't decided if he's ever going to be able to give us a classic, but if he keeps going in this direction he will.”

Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty Promo Photo Big Boi - “Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty”

“So do i agree that this is the best hop-hop album of the year so far? Yes. However, I have never been big on southern hip-hop, and while I'm excited to say that this album is fantastic, it just doesn't make the cut for a "Near Classic" for me. But enough with the ratings. "Shutterbug" is an incredible joy to listen to, and while it has been out there for a minute, it still isn't old. Also, "General Patton" is my new workout song. Hands down. I also loved Janelle Monae's guest hook. Hell this whole album is incredible, and maybe it will have to warm up to me. For not being a big fan on Speakerbox/Thelovebelow, this makes me realize how talented BOTH sides of Outkast are.”

Love King Promo Photo The-Dream - “Love King”

“Yeah I called it about two months ago. We all knew that this wasn't going to be as good as "Love Vs. Money", but honestly how can you beat that. I'm surprised Nathan that you didn't make reference to him saying in the "Sex Intelligence (Remix)" that he was going to drop "Love Affair" next summer. And if you haven't heard about "The Chronicles Of Nikki EP" he might be releasing. But back to this album, my favorite track is "Yamaha". The way he captures the 80's in that track is incredible. Also "Abyss" is amazing as well. I'm surprised that a lot of those bonus tracks were not on the album, but I guess technically they are. So far, this is the best R&B album this year behind Janelle Monae's. I love this album, but in my mind it isn't a classic, and it would be a shame if he did really end it here.”

Thank Me Later Promo Photo Drake - “Thank Me Later”

“I'll be honest...I too downloaded it the day it was leaked, but I will be buying it as well. With that, I'll say that "So Far Gone" is better than "Thank Me Later", as I'm sure we can all agree, but does that mean that this album falls short of being anything but good? Of course not! At first, I had a hard time digesting this album as a whole. The fact that his first three tracks were slow and steady ballads about heartbreak and other things surprised me...on the other hand I commend him for doing something different. My favorite track is obviously "Light Up". That is a classic song to me, and one I hope to see on his greatest hits in a number of years. Anyways, I believe the reason we are all disappointed is because this wasn't a classic. I hate that kind of criticism. This album was made very quickly from when he released "So Far Gone" and the reason SFG was better was because he had much more time to work on it. With that said, I'm seeing his NEXT album being incredibly good....we'll see. SO where does that put me? Well, in Mr. Top Hat opinion, a d!ckriding opinion.”

Albert Anastasia EP Promo Photo Rick Ross - “Albert Anastasia EP”

“So what you're saying Nathan is that this EP is really like a Michael Bay movie. Not good, but we'll watch it anyway. I agree with this review entirely. "Sweet Life" was my favorite track, and that is where Ross is strongest. But who knows, we might not even see his new album seeing as the REAL Rick Ross is pressing charges. But anyway, this EP gets a 3.5 from me.”

The ArchAndroid Promo Photo Janelle Monáe - “The ArchAndroid”

“I can honestly say that this is the best album I have heard since The-Dream's "Love Vs Money" and I have also never heard anything like it. Just it's creativity earns it a classic rating from me, but everything from the production to the lyrics are just so out there it makes it good. First classic of the year.”
