Big K.R.I.T. - 4EvaNaDay
“The elegance of going through that transition from winter to spring. It's an incredible time of the year and as most may know, it was unusually warm for these past couple of months. The world was shocked by just how warm it was, but something that's equally as shocking would be the release of Big K.R.I.T.'s latest effort, 4EvaNaDay. The Mississippi representer has no shortage of great music, mostly due to his past projects like KRIT Wuz Here and Return of 4eva. Let's not deal with the nonrelevant data and feast upon what many have hoped would be an incredible mixtape. There isn't any doubt that this "King Remembered in Time" was going to disappoint me on this record. I came in with strong expectations and upon the start of "Wake Up" I knew that I was listening to something special. Although I haven't yet grasped the concept of what type of message K.R.I.T is trying to send on this mixtape, I'm really getting excited for the official album debut. "Temptation" has got to be one of the most reflective tracks I've heard in a long time, but something told me that K.R.I.T wasn't quite out of tricks yet, and of course I was right. There isn't a fair comparison in terms of how to compare this project to his first two, as tracks like "Country Rap Tunes" still hold the same power and energy of past tracks from earlier works (see Returnof4eva). I think Big K.R.I.T is starting to build a legacy here and it's hard to ignore, if you are a serious Hip Hop head, a supporter of the new school or simply like music in general, you'll certainly get something out of K.R.I.T's latest release. "Package Store" almost creates a stigma that I can't ignore. 4EvaNaDay is by no means the best work I've heard from the Southern emcee by far though, I think that this mixtape just didn't have the kick and the drive that we saw from his last two releases, but at the same time, it still well dominates 90% of what's banging in people's whips these days. 4EvaNaDay is less reflective as to who K.R.I.T. is as a person or geared more toward personal experiences. The context of his material has changed slightly, but his style of production remains the same. I think I've finally attributed a signature style to the "American Rapstar", a vibrant and soulful Southern emcee who is hungry for the world to hear his voice. Listen in on Big K.R.I.T. because the future of Hip Hop lies in the hands of soldiers like himself.” Matt Wallace's Rating:![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Neak - Love Greater // The Prequel
“This project doesn't have many flaws, there were some times throughout that I felt eh about, but all in all, we're looking at quite the album right here. Once again, some great music dominates. Congrats on the release Neak, this is one hell of a project.” Matt Wallace's Rating:![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Honors English - ST?TE OF THE ?RT
“Upon first listen I was surprised, the production by Needlz here is astounding, and this is certainly a collection of some raw talent coming together with a guy like Honors English laying down the rhymes. The only thing about Honors English is that I sometimes feel like I'm struggling to hear his message, I shouldn't have to strain my ear to hear a message from an emcee. Honors English has an interesting delivery, I certainly give him that, and I love the positivism in the music, tracks like "Crazay" are just astounding, and the replay value certainly has that classic feel to it. The problem lies in that the delivery is not always on point. I feel like you cannot call yourself the best emcee if listeners cannot hear you message. Now, Honors English might be creating a new lane of sound right here, and that very well could be the case. The production on here is incredible, with features from the likes of lyrical heavyweights like Lupe Fiasco and underground artists like The Mad Violinists. I'm liking the overall sound of it and it certainly has an incredible replay value to it, but once again I must point out that Honors English is no Nas, he is no Busta Rhymes or Jay-Z in his prime. His flow could be more fluid, but again I go on and click on a song like "Higher Rebel" where I once again get myself banging my head to an incredible sample, and some great lyricism. Honors English has left a legacy with this piece of music, I'm just not sure if his flow is going to be fluid enough to establish a lasting career. As always though, we can see what the Booth thinks.” Matt Wallace's Rating:![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

The Cranberry Show - Paranormal Karaoke
“You will rarely see me throw out the 5 Star Rating, only albums that have truly challenged the current status of the game are worthy of the classic rating. (see MBDTF, Watch The Throne, The Cool, Return of 4Eva) I've got my eyes on The Cranberry Show, these guys can do greatness with this innovative style. Paranormal Karaoke, I mean the creativity here is incredible, and the flows of these two could make the Midwest scream for insanity.” Matt Wallace's Rating:![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

The ILLZ - ILLZSENTIAL
“Raw emotion, talent, and emcee ability leads to the creation of something worthy of 5 Mics. This should go diamond for the quality of music here. Not much in today's music industry can compete with a sleeper like this.” Matt Wallace's Rating:![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

HaLo - The Blind Poet
“I'm incredibly impressed. This is amazing, the complex lyricism and that feel of 90's vintage style really reminds me of some of that Golden Era quality material. This falls nothing short of classic material from our man HaLo and contributions from the works of lyrical monsters like Skyzoo and 9thMatic. Good to have another classic piece to add to my rotation for 2011. Let's just hope good material continues to come out!” Matt Wallace's Rating:![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
