Jason James & Rodney Hazard - Marvelous World of Color
“This was an excellent follow-up to this Washington Post interview w/Chuck D that I was reading on the metro this morning. Chuck was lamenting the many shortcomings of hip-hop now a days; holding the equally vacuous artist & journalist/media responsible for how constant elevation has become an oxymoronic misnomer. Somebody has to figure out a way to get this in Chuck’s hand and let him know that all is not lost. This joint was hitting me on all cylinders; neck was cracking & the cerebellum was throbbing. But it was the laser shot to my cerebral cortex from his lyrics that had me in that special place: “Perpetual genocide, how do you stop that Because of crack – heaven is 80% black. Coincident no! Every incident is planned The hatred & the anger, the inner workings of man” These weren’t even the best lyrics on the album, just what stayed on my brain pan as I was trying to get into this meeting. This is that good shit that a lot of us “heads” miss because the labels & media keep shoving the same garbage at us. There’s nothing homogenous about hip-hop but if archeologists 200 yrs from now analyzed our music per the radio & tv playlists and media coverage – you would think we were a bunch of ‘effing idiots. Critical Thinking is not optional” Jigsaw's Rating:![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
