“Hm. debated between 4 and 5, because it's a 4.5 album to me. two things make this album so amazing. First, after feeling thoroughly disturbed and uncomfortable as the album passes the halfway point, it enters this sort of recovery section. I say recovery because the beats are better, and the lyrics are less horrifying. Right around "Paul" things just became different. most of the amazing songs were in this section, too. When I reflected on this change, and the conclusion of the album, I realized that this was the most complete, full-circle concept album I've yet listened to. Starts off in hell, and clearly tells the story about what the f*** is wrong with Eminem. but it has a resounding victory to close it off. "Underground" trumpets his return. Hell even "Crack a Bottle" feels like it belongs in the album. And Relapse 2 seems to me like it'll be a completely different style. So when I listened to it a second time, I realized I enjoyed the whole thing. The second thing about this album is, when I finish listening front to back (it can't be listened to on shuffle), and I reflect on which songs I like, I realize I dislike so few. Worse, I sang along to some of his messed up songs, because they're catchy as can be. The whole album works together and it seems like you're sitting in a theater.”

“Yes, he can't sing, but he can produce, and he can write songs, and despite the "lack" of singing skills, he manages to create songs that I can "sing" along with. Note that I can't sing either. simply put, the album sounds, as Z points out, beautiful, and is the best album this year. Of the 4 songs Nathan missed mentioning (Say You Will, Pinnochio Story, Streetlights, See You in My Nightmare) I dislike none. They all have the most impressive production I have heard and the lyrics are so easy to catch on to. Also, the song that wasn't described, Welcome to Heartbreak, is my favorite song off of the album. The main feature that strikes me as why this is a classic album is how the trio of elements (lyrics, autotune, 808/production) combine to demonstrate a deep emotion. Few albums in music actually relate to an everyday person's experiences; those that do tend to top the charts. Love isn't the only subject; success is debated just as fiercely. The production achieves most of the emotion: the lyrics are few and far in between, with many dramatic pauses. Likely an admittance of Kanye's that he can't sing, and won't do it too much. Streetlights has maybe one or two unique verses and welcome to heartbreak has only 3 very short verses, but they are the best 2. The album cuts close to home. The production is unprecedented. It's a Classic”

“This album was simply amazing, especially coming from T.I. cuz frankly TIP ain't known for such lyrical gems, more-so the trap music sort of genre, not meaning to be a knock on TIP as i enjoy it all the same.. But as for Paper Trail, it was a mix of introspective lyrical tracks (slide show, dead and gone, no matter what) , swagger songs (swagger like us, on top of the world), and lady-influenced joints (whatever you like, porn star), but all of them were T.I. on a better scale. Personally I liked B.o.B's chorus for On Top of the World, addicting and uplifting.. the only songs I don't listen to as much are the radio singles, simply because I can hear them anywhere, rather than only in my library of music. The song with Usher is my least favorite, but then it leaked awhile back and I listened to it too much. This says something though: Paper Trail doesn't have the longevity in every track needed to be considered classic. But I believe it is above solid, a 4.25 or so, because it also is not "near classic" as a 4.5 is. I'll buy this as soon as I can get to a store.”

“It was a really good album. just it lacks the ability to be listened to a year from now. Great CD, but are you sure everyone is listening to the released copy? I swear I was just in FYE and it was a 13 track LP with 5 bonus songs on a 2nd CD. But anyways Wayne kills it, but one thing that stuck out was how many times weezy rhymed a word... with the same word. and he wasn't using it as a pun. Expectations were high, almost reached 'em.”

“well personally I dislike "Damn Im Cold".. the rapping by both is mediocre, or at least it seems like that cuz its overshadowed by a loud but crappy beat. the bass doesn't save it, it actually further puts the beat over the rappers.. The album for me started with "You're Everything" and doesn't stop banging. Good review man, your last few sentences say it well.”
