Native Instruments has just announced their new flagship Production hardware, the Maschine Studio, and new software, Maschine 2.0. The new Maschine Studio hardware is bigger than the original and provides best-in-class control with two new hi-res color displays, a new edit section with a large jog wheel, and responsive 16-multi-color backlit pads. The Maschine 2.0 software provides lots of improvements to the user interface and works better and faster on all three Maschine Production devices. We have a new Maschine Studio in the DJbooth.net lab for the full video and written reviews which will be available shortly. Check out the unboxing & first impressions video to see all that comes in the package.
The Numark Mixtrack Edge was on display at the 2013 Atlantic City DJ Expo a few months ago where were able to get lots of play time with the new controller and the Numark team was also gracious enough to give us an exclusive walkthrough video to let us know what the Mixtrack Edge is all about. We now have our very own Numark Mixtrack Edge in the DJbooth.net lab for the full review treatment, but check out our unboxing and first impressions video in the meantime to see what comes in the box.
The winner of the 2013 Online DMC DJ Championships has been announced by the DMC judges. The performance which took top honors for the entire competition was by JON1ST from the UK who does some seriously crispy scratching and out-of-this-world juggling in one of the best performances I've seen to date. Watch this phenomenal set by as he rips it up on a set of Technics 1210's and a new Rane Sixty-Two Mixer and get ready to see him at the World DMC DJ Championships in a few short weeks.
The BKE Beat Thang digital production station was released a few short years ago and we were happy to report that this powerful machine was easy to use and built to last. The Beat Thang now undergoes a hardware and software refresh with a new 1.3.0 update that makes the Beat Thang even more powerful by leveraging more processing efficiencies for a smoother operation. There's also more sounds and samples added to the thousands that are already on-board and a new MIDI clock feature that allows users to connect multiple MIDI controllers and production software.
The new Native Instruments Traktor Kontrol S2 MK2 and Traktor Kontrol S4 MK2 Digital DJ controllers were just released to the public last week and we've already completed the reviews which shows why these units work excellent with the Traktor Pro 2 software and the Traktor DJ App. The Traktor Kontrol S2 and S4 have many similarities and differences so I've decided to create a quick comparison video to show potential buyers what they'll be missing or gaining by purchasing one or the other.
The new Native Instruments Traktor Kontrol S2 MK2 and S4 MK2 Digital DJ controllers were just released to the public last week and we've got review units in the lab for full out video and written reviews. The new controllers boast improvements to the original designs by adding multi-color hotcue/remix deck pads, hi-res aluminum metal plate jog wheels, FLUX mode buttons, and Traktor DJ iOS compatibility. The original S2 and S4 DJ controllers were the perfect 2-channel and 4-channel mixing consoles for the Traktor software. The Traktor software has seen lots of new updates since the release of the original S2 /S4 so it's only natural that NI releases new controller interfaces to access the new advanced features such as remix decks controls and FLUX mode. We'll have the full reviews completed shortly, but check out our unboxing & first impressions videos in the meantime to see what comes in the boxes.

Serato DJ 1.5 has now been released. This means that the era of Serato Scratch Live and Itch is coming to an end. Last month Serato announced that they would combine all of their Serato based DJ software into one software to rule them all which is known as the Serato DJ 1.5 release. The new release will now work with the new Pioneer DJM-900SRT, DDJ-SR, DDJ-SP1, and the Rane Sixty-Four. Of course all of the other Serato DJ controllers are also able to work with the new Serato DJ 1.5 and there's a few bug fixes and housekeeping items addressed in this update as well.
