NUMARK CDX User Reviews

{underline-table}

‘The Best’ The whole review can be summarized into a word; ‘Numark’s CDX is the best’ Without a doubt, Numark CDX is hands-down the best single-cd-deck out there in the market. As compared to its competitors, such as Pioneer CDJ-1000 or Denon DN-S5000, Numark CDX might not look all that slick to some people due to its size. However, the 12 inch platter, is the ultimate way to emulate the real vinyl-turntable, yes, the one you spin. If you’re a DJ trying to move onto the whole new field of CDJing and looking for a good CD-turntable, this is your answer. The review is simple, it’s the best thing you’ll ever find for years. 9.8/10 .....Just for the tip, loosen up(unscrew) the center boltlittle bit, that’ll make it feel even better (specially, when you scratch. it sits and slips so good. Trust me, it’s a big difference) - DJ Eric Lee

CDX is da shhhh. It be trippin people and when u play a song that you wouldn’t expect to be on vinyl or is a hard-to-find track people come up to see record only to see it is a CD Player...The oly thing is that my CDX’s can start to loop by themselves!!! It has to do it to me mixin at clubs urrrrrr that kinda sucked but i don’t know if its only my Numarks or it happen to all Numark Brands??? - DJ 2 Tuff

CDX has revolutionized the DJ game. I could talk about the pros of this device all day. But that wouldnt be any fun, so, with that I present the downsides. The CDX is simply TOO software dependant. The technology is amazing, but compared to a turntable its a pansy. It has let me down an unimagineable amount of times by crashing. Another extremely stupid problem is the way they designed the CD slot loader. Extremely sensitive sensors don’t know whether the CD is loading or ejecting. A pioneer implementation would have been better suited. Is that noise the CDX makes when loading a CD normal? Call me crazy, it sounds like a couple of screws are missing. On the lighter side, it is a great machine for those who have a passion for the feel of vinyl. - DJ Fares

I have purchased a CDX and to my horror, it won’t work about 80% of the time due to the insanly bad loading mechanism not fully pulling the CD in. Once I do get the CD to load by babying it, the CD-drive itself often struggles to spin the CD up. This may be due to the bad loader not putting the CD square into the place it needs to be, or some other defect. I took out those four tempting screws that hold the drive in place, and the inclosed drive is the most low-budget looking and feeling cd drive I have EVER seen. It wieghs about 1.5 lbs and is made from molded plastic, with the laser-rig open to the air, one metal protective plate that is nearly tinfoil thin, and a hugly complicated spring and plastic-lever system (which is the weak point, or at least one of them) which has about 8 or 9 seperate moving parts just to pull and push the cd in and out. It doesn’t work very well. Of course, it would have been too easy for numark to put a standard IDE cd-drive in thier device. Then I would be able to fix this problem myself. Now I am resorting to numark tech support. I am very dissapointed in the six hundred and fifty dollars I spent on this product. I recommend anyone wait untill they release version 2.0 or maybe a competitor who knows that something slightly more expensive and slightly more durable will please the DJ world FAR more then cheap-as-possible breaks in 1 month gear. To a DJ a turntable or CDX is a musical instrument. If I bought a violin or a flute for 600 dollars I guess I would expect it to be very low quality. I have come to the conclusion that numark had a great idea, and in trying to bring the price down, they allowed a VERY VERY low quality cd-drive to be used in thier CDX. This likely made if possible for me to buy and then regret buying one. This is not good business though, as I will now be frustrated enough to vent my frustration everywhere I go and make a point of letting the world hear that not everyone will be happy with a CDX. I am not. It’s made worse by the fact that about 20% of the time, nothing goes wrong, and it works SO PIMP! ugh… I say it again, ugh. - DJ Perks

The Numark CDX is junk. The problem with this unit is it gets too hot when spinning for more than 4 hours of use. The drive is cheap and has problems reading discs. The sound quality is very poor compared to the CDJ1000MKII and the Denon3500. Numark should stop trying to use cheap parts in their units. We will find out about your problems and expose them. That’s just poor business. If I spend $1400 dollars on a pair of CDX’s I expect it to perform up to standard. The standard is the CDJ1000MKII and the Denon3500S. Numark please make note. And next time you develop a product please consults a professional DJ like myself to test your product. Not any kid on the street or some bum DJ who has no idea who Grand Master Flash is. The only good thing they got right is the feel and the effects jog wheel. And if they are going to come out with a unit that has a built in hard drive please use a good one. You don’t put a Neon engine in a Mustang and expect it to go 100 mph. Use quality parts. Pioneer did and that’s why they are #1. Real DJs will pay a reasonable price if your unit meets standard. Once again look how many CDJs have been sold and they go for a $1000 a pop. Sorry Numark but until you guys get it straight I won’t be buying any of your products. - Killa Run

I won’t waste time about what’s good about it. We all know, as far as performance it can’t be matched, but I found out the hard way these tables are garbage. I have $1600 dollar peice of junk in my house that will not work, and when I tred to get help from numark they were none! And the repairer I tried to get to work on them could not figure out the problem. So i just gave them free money. As has been already said the worst thing about these tables are that they work so great When they work which is crap shoot at best. - DJ Grand

Having owned a pair of CDXs for 4 days, one of them has already broken down...The motor doesn’t turn the platter anymore. Very very disappointing. I was feeling very happy about their ease of use. My only niggle being when you push the platter to keep the record in time, it wows much more like a cheap turntable than my SL1200s and the centre 0% deadzone on the pitch control is very annoying when doing a long beatmatch mix… - DJ Malcolm

BOO! The CD player was great for the two weeks it worked. Then it broke down and I have spent the past 3 months wrangling with Numark Tech Support (or the lack of it) to try to get it fixed.

First they tell me to buy a new drive for it which is about $130 with shipping. It didn’t fix it, and when I called to return it they told me that they don’t accept returns!!

This thing is a piece of junk and Numark Tech Support is terrible!

Ive only messed around with the Numark CDX CD Turntable at Guitar Center, but it seemed pretty solid to me.  The 12 inch platter is a huge plus for vinyl heads like me.

I also own the numark CDX’s and for the price, I’m not completley satisfied.  Sure I love all the effects the authentic feel, and the easy mixing, but it isn’t as reliable than some cheaper setups.  More often than usual, the CD’s skip or sometimes don’t play anything at all.  In the very beginning I had no problems with system failure and I fell in love with the stylish appearance, but soon enough it showed errors and frustrated me.  I’m not sure what I’ll do with it now, but I’m planning on getting a reliable backup, if anybody knows good equipment (perferably a CD player, not CD turntables) please let me know, or if you can give me some advice on how to fix this mess, because if i could get this back to normal it would be perfect, than please do.  Thanks.

Honestly i feel yall. I have 2 cdx and I had a gig and the cd got stuck. Good thing I had a flat head to get the cd out. Now when I sent it off to numark the 1st time they replayed the drive and it worked for a good month and after that it started scratching up brand new cd’s. Then I had to send it back again because guess what the cd’s were getting stuck.  Now Im not gonna lie I have a Hdx to and it works pretty good after I sent it off 6 months ago
