Being first a musician and is starting to do more DJ work as well as re-mixing on other projects,
this mixer ‘’is all that’’.
It is easy to operate, the layout is mostly, or almost all convenient..I’ll get into more details on that later.
First of all the sound that comes from this mixer ( 24 bits ) would appeal to whoever uses it, because you have all of the EQ settings that you can think of like LFO’s, LPF’s & HPF’s. Including at the bottom of this unit is also an EQ selection setting knob with all sorts of various choice settings that are nice.
The effect settings are awesome, it gives you every effect that you would need for your live & studio FX needs, on the individual channels as well as a separate master effect section to fulfil all of your needs.
My only wish about the sampler is if it where a way to manually time your loops and override the set beats, that is preset on the mixer.
The fire wire is a plus but I haven’t tried to assign it to my Ableton live or my Traktor yet, I will do that later.
The only bad part about this mixer is the controls as well as the head phone input that is at the bottom of the mixer.
This poses a problem if you wanted to try and rack mount this unit if you use a travel stack top set up.
My work around is to use a mini plug or 1/4’’ adaptor with a female input on the other side and arrange it to the front of the mixer to plug in to.
This mixer is not set up for rack mounting, most pro mixers aren’t, but using this work around with a little custom fabricating from Lows or Home Depot is only a small set back to this mixer.
The faders are very smooth and easy to slide ( loose ) with hardly no resistance, you also have about every setting to arrange the cross fades to however your preference is.
The BPM setting is a plus and with MIDI is the only way to go for musicians who likes to use a drum machine or a MIDI DAW to time your beats with your sequences, which is one of the main reasons that I purchased this mixer, not only do it have MIDI in but also MIDI out and two USB ports for your controllers.
I would give this mixer a ( 9 ) on the scale of ( 1 to 10 ).
Good work Korg, I think that Korg has set the bar bringing musicians and DJ closer to matrimony.
