This is the 3rd mixer I’ve owned and is by far my favorite so far. It’s got tons of outs and ins for connecting several sources of sound. I use the 1/4 inch outs to go to my main amp, the booth rca outs for taping on a mini disc recorder, and the record rca outs for my monitor speakers. The fader on my mixer started getting fuzzy as the other guy here says but after cleaning the fader..poof working like new again and it’s been another 6 months and no problem. LOVE IT. Buy it techno mixers. - DJ Chuck Wepner

The Stanton SMX-301 was the first mixer I ever had. Its a good entry level mixer for techno. Having the kill switches near the crossfader is a good idea since in makes them easy to reach. The fader has a very smooth and gradual curve perfect for long mixes. Also, the cue pan fader is useful for testing out your mix in the headphones before sending it to master output.  I found the post fader cue to be handy when praticing while my roomates were asleep. I have a few minor complaints about the SMX-301. First of all, the crossfader started getting a little fuzzy after alot of use.  However, this is partly my fault since I tried to use it to scratch before I bought my PMC-05. Im sure it wouldn’t have degraded so fast had I used this mixer for what it is for.  Also, it would have been nice is you could assign the crossfader to different lines.  The crossfader is set on lines one and three and can’t be changed.  These things aside, I was pleased with Stanton’s SMX-301. - DJ Spiff
