Stanton GrooveMaster.V3 Cartridge Staff Review

Stanton GrooveMaster.V3 Cartridge Review Summary

Design: The Stanton GrooveMaster.V3 Cartridge is designed as a One-Piece Plug-and-Play solution for Club DJ’s that want great sound and versatility. For this new iteration of the GrooveMaster cartridge; the color is changed to black and silver for an updated futuristic type of look. The Matched Pair (MP4) set of cartridges comes with a flight-style case and a stylus brush in order to get the dust and debris off of the needles.

Scratching: The GrooveMaster.V3 cartridge has great versatility but it is not meant for extensive scratching. These cartridges were tested on a set of Technics 1200's and a set of Gemini CDT-05's and I was able to pull off most of my complex tears and chirps without any problems. There were only a few times that I had to force it to slip out of the groove under extremely rigorous back and forth type scratching. Even though they are capable of scratching, the elliptical stylus will wear your vinyl down faster than spherical styli that are made for scratching (See the Trackmaster and Discmaster cartridge reviews).

Mixing: Mixing is where the GrooveMaster.V3 really shines! The cartridge performs PERFECTLY while mixing house music or just about anything else. I was surprised that this cartridge was even able to play my record that had a deep scratch in it that my other needles couldn’t play!

Sound Quality: Out of all Stanton 1-piece design cartridges, I would say that the GrooveMaster.V3 has the absolute BEST sound output and is also comparable to other higher-priced cartridges out there on the market today. The Highs are nice and crispy and the Mids are nice and vibrant. The Bass is deep and steady without almost any feedback or flutter present which makes it perfect for recording.

Pro's:
-Great Sound Quality
-One-piece Integrated Headshell Design
-Good Price
-Nice travel Case with the Matched Pair (MP4)

Con's:
-Not suited for scratching

Recommended for:
-Mixing Style DJ's
-Club Installations
-Producers/Remixers

These arent the best for scratching (but arent that bad either), but they sound great and look really cool on a pair of Technics 1200s.

The added fight case is a nice touch.
