The Pioneer CDJ-800 CD Turntable gives you many of the key features found on the CDJ-1000, but with a significantly lower price tag (around $200). The Pioneer CDJ-800 has the same turntable-like manipulation platter and programmable cue points. However, the key differences between the two are as follows.
Cannot store cue information into a permanent memory
No Hot Cue
No lock CD function
The 800 has +/-10% and +/-1000% pitch control whereas the 1000 has -/+6, 10, 16, 24%
The 800 does not have the metal buttons found on the 1000
The reverse function is controlled by a button rather than a switch
No WAV data memory
Touch/Release and Break/Start controls do not have separate controls
Reverse function is controlled by a button rather than a switch
Overall, the CDJ-800 only lacks the most delux of features found on the CDJ-1000.

The Pioneer CDJ 800 is an incredible cd turntable. I went to try it out in the store in addition to the 1000MK2 and all the functions that I found important to have were on the 800. The 1000MK2 is awesome as well, but to save a few bucks, it is so well worth the purchase. Hands down my best equipment investment. The other difference in the 1000mk2 is the
800 platter is lighter when you backspin and scratch, which was also another factor I found important to me. It’s a little easier to manipulate the platter. - DJ Jermaine Jones
