Numark Total Control Information & Features

Total Control
PROFESSIONAL DJ SOFTWARE CONTROLLER

THE MISSING LINK FOR SOFTWARE DJS.

A tabletop controller for DJs who yearn for the control they left behind when they switched from traditional mixers to the multi–processing power of laptop DJing. This fully class–compliant USB MIDI device is the ultimate for any performing computer DJ.

Total Control's 31 buttons, 20 knobs and 5 faders send MIDI data from the controller to your DJ software of choice, making the inconvenience of mouse or glide–pad software control a thing of the past. No assignment of software parameters for the Total Control is necessary – simply connect the controller to a computer with a USB cable, enable it on the user's computer's "config" menu, and watch the virtual controls respond to Total Control's actions.

The Total Control comes packaged with Numark's Cue LE and Native Instruments' Traktor LE software, with pre–mapped controls and overlay "skins" for both applications.

_ 20 knobs, 5 faders, 31 buttons all send MIDI data
_ Cue LE and Traktor LE included with controls pre–mapped
_ Easy to learn mixer / CD player layout
_ USB bus powered (no adapter needed)
_ Kensington security slot to prevent theft
_ Cue and Traktor controller overlays included to help identify controls
_ Blank overlay included on reverse for custom mapping
_ Mac OSX and Windows XP class–compliant / No driver needed

I’ve had the NTC for about a week now.
It’s definitely an improvement over the Hercules DJ console Mk2 i have, it doesn’t look like a toy, it’s better spaced out, has better buttons. It has controls (when using with Cue/VDJ) dedicated to scrolling through playlists, choosing & adjusting samples and effects, So there is now only occasional needs to use your computers keybord/mouse… which is a good thing!
I would say the the faders could be better, for example on the pitch faders there is slight movement on them left to right, which doesn’t effect the overall fade, but it just doesn’t feel solid. The fader arms can easily be bent, so be careful!

VDJ or Cue (VDJ branded)is a brillaint piece of software and this controller does a great job of emphasising that and helping you get the most out of it.

As mentioned in a previous review, it is a controller only, so no inputs, outputs, or headphone sockets, for this you need a 4.1 soundcard or Numark DJ i/o, or you can do what i do and use my Hercules Mk2 as the sound card, which has the Deck A,Deck B, Mix & Split headphone settings.

Summary: Not the completely professional solution i was hoping for, but a big step in the right direction.

Let’s start out by saying it’s okay.  The faders and buttons work pretty well and is pretty good for the price you pay.  Although without a headphone jack it is pretty much useless for any live gigs.  First of all you can’t set any musical loops to mix in or mix in a song at all without headphones to hear the other deck.  It works well with numark Cue Dj Software haven’t tried it with Traktor yet.  The limited edition software is pretty limited there barely any effects no video playing support and it won’t even run without Total Control itself.  I reccomend you purchase the Numark DJ i/o to be he Total Control’s accomplice.  I will be a video on youtube that is more in depth you can search total control.

Thanks,
DJ Vitamin D
