DJ Tech X10 USB DJ Mixer Summary:

The DJ Tech X10 two-channel USB professional DJ Mixer with an internal 4-in/4-out soundcard is a nice compact mixer with all the necessary features to let DJ’s get right into Digital Mixing. Just like with the DJM-303 mixer, the X10 also feels like a professional quality mixer and there is a nice basic feature set that all DJ’s can appreciate. The DJ Tech X10 is built with a completely solid metal construction, meaning it can take a beating and is great for travel. The X10 can work as a standalone mixer, a USB soundcard and USB Hub, or with a combination of both with the switch of a button. The crossfader and linefaders are all the same Alpha faders which work pretty smoothly. All the faders have curve adjustment knobs and reverse buttons as well. The DJ Tech X10 mixer comes bundled with Decadance so a DJ can use the mixer in external mixer mode to mix the digital files. The DJ Tech X10 has a full 4-input & 4-output USB soundcard that can work with almost any Digital Vinyl Timecode system (except for Traktor & Serato) for external deck playback. The sound quality on the DJ Tech X10 was also good with a 3-band EQ for each channel.

There were only two minor gripes that I could identify on the DJ Tech X10 after about a week of use. The first one is that the crossfader and linefaders have a rather long cut-in distance of about 2.5mm until you hear the sound on the opposite deck, meaning that it will take some time to get used to for scratch DJ’s. The second gripe was that even though there is an internal 4-in/4-out soundcard on the X10, you will not be able to use it for DVS timecode playback with Serato or Traktor since their systems only work with Traktor/Serato Certified soundcards.

The DJ Tech X10 mixer is a nice compact mixer that has a built in soundcard that is capable of DVS Timecode playback over most Digital DJ Software out on the market today. There are lots of inputs and outputs to work with a variety of setups and it’s also built to last. The cost of this mixer is about $400 at retail but considering the cost of other mixers out there with a built in soundcard capable of DVS playback, it’s a real steal. The DJ Tech X10 mixer is recommended for DJ’s who want to use Digital DJ Software with an external mixer or for those who don’t want to purchase a separate mixer with a separate soundcard for DVS playback. The X10 is also recommended to beginner DJ’s or for those who don’t need a bunch of advanced features built into the mixer.

Pro’s:

-Completely Solid Metal Construction
-Can work as a standalone mixer, as a USB DJ Soundcard for any DJ software, or in combination
-Four Input/Four Output internal soundcard for DVS timecode playback (except for Traktor & Serato)
-Good Alpha Crossfader and Linefaders with curve adjustment knob and reverse
-Comes with Decadance to DJ with a computer in external mixing mode
-Has two additional USB ports to function as a USB Hub

Con’s:

-Crossfader & Linefaders have a rather-long 2.5mm cut-in distance
-Cannot use internal soundcard for Traktor & Serato timecode (DVS) playback)

"The DJ Tech X10 ... can work with almost any Digital Vinyl Timecode system (except for Traktor & Serato)" - what a hilarious statement when you consider that 90% of all DVS users are running either Traktor or Serato. It's like saying "Our car wash will work with any car - except the ones with four wheels"....
