The Denon DN-MC6000 Digital DJ Controller is an excellent all-around 4-deck/4-channel digital mixing solution as well as a stand-alone mixing console in a nice compact package. First off, the DN-MC6000 is built very, very tough. It has a full metal body with sturdy faders and knobs. The unit is also extremely versatile with the ability to run with any DJ software (fully MIDI customizable), as a stand-alone mixer, and with a combination of software and analog decks with or without timecode control. There are many inputs and outputs along with two microphone inputs with 3-Band EQ on each. The jog wheels feel very sturdy with no shakes or wobbles or press-plate. They are completely touch sensitive and there is no lag to speak of. The MC6000 has nearly perfect Traktor Pro 2 mapping. It has effects controls, cue buttons, and sample deck controls just as in the Traktor 2 software with great one-to-one mapping provided by Denon. The size of the MC6000 also makes it easy to transport inside of most gear bags out on the market today.
On the downside, the Denon DN-MC6000, like most other Digital DJ Controllers does not have a user-replaceable crossfader. Even though the fader is a good one, it’s always good to know that it can be replaced without sending it in for repair. Another gripe I have with the unit is the lack of internal soundcard timecode compatibility. The MC6000 cannot use its internal soundcard to provide the analog or digital timecode decks immediate operation with the software. The DJ must also have an external soundcard (NI Audio or Serato SL interface) in order for the MC6000 to be used in conjunction with timecode decks. Another item worth mentioning is that it will take most DJ’s a little bit of time getting used to the small jog wheels, but once you get used to it there won’t be an issue.
DJbooth.net recommends the Denon DN-MC6000 to all types of different DJ’s who want a great controller with many professional inputs and outputs. The Sound quality of the unit is top-notch and it is built to last. Beginners and Pro-users will feel right at home with the intuitive layout and there’s always room to grow when you want to add more gear to the setup. If you are using TP2 and you want lots of input/output connectivity options, then this is probably your best choice for a 4-deck MIDI controller.

-Great jog wheel and Fader feel
-Excellent mapping with Traktor Pro 2
-non-user replaceable crossfader
-Cannot use internal soundcard for external timecode decks (must have separate soundcard device)
-Small jog wheels take time to get used to
