Alto Professional TS112A Truesonic Powered Speaker Review Summary:
The Alto Professional brand has just arrived on the speaker scene and they are already making big waves in the pro-audio industry. The Truesonic line of speakers by Alto Professional are their latest and greatest speaker system that comes in a variety of sizes and flavors. The Truesonic speakers are available in 10-inch, 12-inch, and 15-inch, active 2-way speaker setups and a 12-inch and 15-inch passive setup. They also offer powered subwoofers in 12, 15, or 18-inch configurations. If you don’t want an on-board amplifier, then Alto has you covered with their passive 12 and 15 inch versions. So there is definitely something for everyone here.
Our review is based on the Powered 12-inch; 2-way TS112A Truesonic speakers. The first impressions of these speakers are excellent as each speaker is lightweight thanks to the polypropylene trapezoidal cabinet that also remains very durable and shock resistant for ample protection. The front of the cabinet protects the woofer and the horn from any accidental impacts. The cabinet also has handles on the sides and on the top for easy transport. They also have a stand/pole mount underneath, they can be used on the floor in a wedge configuration, and they can also be stacked one on top of the other. These speakers are powered by an 800 watt Class D lightweight (fan-cooled) internal amplifier that requires a power connection directly to the speaker. The speaker runs at about 400 watts continuously and has a very nice horn for the highs and mids and a great 12-inch woofer that provided more bass than I could ever recall coming out of a speaker that small. The highs were very crisp all the way through and the bass was seriously booming throughout our entire test run. I am still blown away at the deep bass response inherent in the 12-inch woofer on the TS112A. We never had any issues with popping, hissing, interference, or humming during our two hour stress test. The system performed flawlessly during my time with the pair. There are two separate XLR/quarter-inch input connections each with their own volume control knob that can act as a mixer when switching between the inputs. There is also an XLR output to “daisy-chain” to other speakers.
In conclusion, I must say I was surprised at the overall performance of these speakers…so much so that I want a set for myself. The TS112A Powered speakers by Alto would work perfectly for Mobile DJ’s, club installations, professional or personal setups. The Bass response and handling is above and beyond what is expected and the highs and mids remain in balance even at the higher volumes. The price of the TS112A is about $300 at retail and I think it’s a fair price for a very competitive product. They are lightweight and very versatile in the many ways they can be setup. Anyone looking for a new set of speakers should seriously give some consideration to the Alto Truesonic speaker line.

Versatile Cabinet Design

Super Efficient Drivers
The drivers in the TRUESONIC TS112A are designed to make sure that virtually no energy is wasted. That translates to more of the power from the amplifier actually working to generate sound rather than heat, giving the speaker better real world performance than other speakers with comparable published specifications. Modern amplifier design
Every active TRUESONIC speaker benefits from the use of a Class D amplifier integrated into the cabinet. Class D amps are generally lighter than Class A and AB amplifier designs, and offer more than enough power to provide your performance with plenty of punch. The TRUESONIC TS112 delivers with 800 Watts of power and offers a balanced combo jack (XLR/TRS) input with level control. Class D amplifiers are also highly efficient and run cooler than other kinds of amps so the amp doesn't have to work as hard to deliver your mix.

Optimal speaker placement can be challenging, especially if your speakers don't have what it takes to go anywhere.   Complete Junk. Stopped working 6 months after purchase. Under warranty and send back in October 2012 costing me $100 in shipping. Still waiting in Jan 2013. Customer Service is 30 min wait minimum. They will not help you.
