Native Instruments has launched the new Maschine Studio MIDI-controller production system along with the new version 2.0 of its software and we've got our hands on both for a full written and video review. The new Native Instruments Maschine Studio hardware is bigger than both the Maschine and Maschine Mikro and provides best-in-class control with two new hi-res color displays, a new edit section with a large jog wheel, and the same responsive 16-multi-color backlit velocity-sensitive drum pads. The Numark Mixtrack Edge has recently been released as the smallest, lightest, and sleekest Digital DJ controller in the Numark Mixtrack range. This new DJ controller is extremely thin at only 14mm thick and is only about the size of a tablet device. The Mixtrack Edge comes bundled with a two-deck version of Virtual DJ LE making it a really compact package with most of the on-board features that Digital DJ’s need.
The Beat Thang Mobile Production Studio by Beat Kangz is a portable music-creation device which allows users to arrange and manipulate the pre-loaded samples, drum kits, and instruments to create beats in the studio as well as on-the-go. The Beat Thang is advertised as the “worlds first fully portable mobile production studio”, allowing producers to craft beats without the need for a computer or external power. This review will focus on the new Beat Thang 1.3.0 update which provides a hardware and software with a nice refresh that makes the Beat Thang even more powerful by leveraging more processing efficiencies for a smoother operation.
The Reloop DJ brand has been cranking out some very good quality DJ equipment for the past few years and they’ve really started to excel in the Digital DJ controller and DJ headphone realm in a very short span of time. The Traktor Kontrol S4 MK2 is the new and second iteration of the original Traktor 4-channel Digital DJ Controller that was released a few short years ago under the Kontrol S4 name. The new Traktor Kontrol S4 MK2 has a few hardware updates that will complement the new updates that the Traktor Pro 2 software has received over the last few years. The Native Instruments DJ controllers have an outstanding history in respects to the way they always match up to their Traktor software perfectly.
