Numark has recently released its newest flagship controller the NS7III. In this newest version, the Numark NS7III has all the same features and layout of the NS7II controller we reviewed last year, but it also adds three new 4.3-inch full-color screens for full track and navigation information without the need to look at the laptop screen. Check out our full video review where we put these claims to the test and see if the new NS7III is a real improvement.
Pioneer has recently released the new BULIT series monitor lineup that is affordable and squarely aimed at DJ’s & Producers who want good performance speakers with a small form factor. The Pioneer BULIT speaker range is nearly identical to the S-DJ X range that we reviewed two years ago as they also come in either the five-inch (BULIT5), the six-inch (BULIT6), or the eight-inch (BULIT8) woofer and have an auto on/off mode to save on power when not in use. These speakers are powered internally by an AB amplifier and Pioneer says that the technology in the woofer design and front port found on these speakers improve air flow with “Groove Technology” for deep and vibrant bass.
House of Marley is a new audio company that produces some cool audio products such as small speakers, headphones, and earbuds. The new Marley Liberate XLBT over-the-ear Bluetooth enabled headphones sport huge 50mm drivers, solid metal headband and hinges, leather headband, and thick plush earcups for good comfort. Native Instruments has released the latest version of their flagship virtual instrument, REAKTOR 6. REAKTOR is a virtual instrument that models the modular synthesis process. The key to Reaktor’s appeal is the ability to build your own instruments and effects. In version 6, REAKTOR has introduced a new way to build called Blocks. AKAI Professional has released the latest incarnation of it’s MPD series, the MPD232. The pad controller combines 3 important functions in one device. M-Audio has just released its’ intuitive new series of keyboards called the CODE. The CODE Series is a USB Midi Controller, which is available in 25, 49 and 61 keys. What makes the product so unique is that its’ the first keyboard of its’ kind to feature a built-in X/Y pad. The X/Y pad allows user control of effects and virtual instruments through the touch pad. Grain Audio is a relatively new professional audio company that produces some cool audio products. The OEHP.01 over-the-ear headphones sport 40mm drivers, lightweight and comfortable construction, and walnut wood earcup enclosures that house the speakers. Everyone who’s been in the DJ or production realm for any amount of time will immediately recognize the KRK brand of active studio monitors with their all black body construction and signature yellow cones in the woofers. Today we have a pair of KRK Rokit 5 G3 active Monitors and a 10S studio subwoofer in the lab for the full out review treatment.
NI has sent us two of their newest compact DJ controllers for Traktor called the Traktor Kontrol D2 for the full review treatment. The Traktor Kontrol D2 is essentially the “deck” section of the recently reviewed Traktor Kontrol S8 DJ controller and it sports the same hi-res screen and heavy remix/stem deck control with multicolored backlit pads and volume controls. The D2 and the S8 uses the remix deck controls and screens to manipulate the new Stems file format.
Four years ago, we were introduced to a brand new DJ backpack that would become a personal favorite and my go-to DJ gear back for the foreseeable future. Orbit Concepts have recently announced a new update to the old favorite called the new Jetpack Prime Backpack. The new Jetpack Prime has many improvements over the Jetpack II which includes new redesigned compartments, a fully customizable front, mesh padding, and ripstop lining inside.
