The new Native Instruments Traktor Kontrol S2 MK2 and Traktor Kontrol S4 MK2 Digital DJ controllers were just released to the public last week and we've already completed the reviews which shows why these units work excellent with the Traktor Pro 2 software and the Traktor DJ App. The Traktor Kontrol S2 and S4 have many similarities and differences so I've decided to create a quick comparison video to show potential buyers what they'll be missing or gaining by purchasing one or the other.
S2 MK2 & S4 MK4 Similarities
Both Bundled with Full Traktor Pro 2 Software
Same Aluminum Jog wheels
Same RGB and Plastic Buttons
Same Rubberized Knobs
Same Audio Quality
Same Build Quality
S2 MK2 & S4 MK4 Differences
S4 is 4+1 channels of simultaneous control, S2 is 2+1 channels
S4 has separate Gain and Filter controls, S2 combines features into a single knob
S4 has a Loop Length LED digital display that shows the current bar-length, S2 does not
S4 has four additional RGB buttons to control Cue points and Remix Slots simultaneously while the S2 layers the Hotcue and Remix slot controls
Booth Output Switch controls the RCA Output location on the S2, while the Switch controls the ¼-inch output location on the S4
S4 has Main output Level LED meters, S2 does not (Both have Line level meters)
S4 has two channelized inputs with internal Digital Vinyl System capable soundcard, S2 does not
S4 has MIDI In and Out and Footswitch connections for advanced MIDI capabilities, S2 does not
S4 has a Tempo reset button next to the FLUX button which switches the tempo back to zero, S2 does not
S4 has loop recorder controls onboard, S2 does not
S4 has FX Mode buttons to change the module type (single or multiple), S2 does not
S4 has Snap, Master, Quantize buttons in the middle, S2 does not
S2 has a Mic Engage (On/Off) button on the front and Mic volume control knob on the back while the S4 only has a Mic volume control knob on the front.
S2 can switch to MIDI mode by pressing both shift keys, while the S4 must go into the controller editor or preferences
