Vestax VCI-400 Standalone Mixer Mode (Free Update)
A few weeks ago, we brought you the full HD-Video review of the new Vestax VCI-400 Digital DJ Controller and just last week (Found Here), we brought you another DIY video showing how we upgraded the crossfader to the scratch-worthy Vestax CF-X2 (Seen Here). Now Vestax has released a free download firmware update that allows the Vestax VCI-400 controller to work as a standalone mixer without the need for any computer or USB connection. Just plug in the power cable, hit a few rear switches and you're ready to go. The Vestax VCI-400 can now also be used as a standalone mixer for your external decks AND still feed your MIDI controller needs with digital decks in hybrid mode all at the same time! For example, with Traktor Pro you can mix a total of 6 decks. (2 Traktor Pro decks, 2 Traktor Pro sampler decks, and 2 CD players)...
If you are a lucky Vestax VCI-400 owner (like me) then go HERE for the update ASAP!
I've already loaded up the new 2.0 firmware and the features work great! The Filter knobs still work and so far so good. Be on the lookout for my quick Rundown HD-Video on this 2.0 firmware update within the next week or two. Stay Tuned!
New stand alone mixer function for the VCI-400!
The VCI-400 is now capable of operating as a stand-alone mixer by upgrading to the latest v2.0 firmware.
This stand-alone mixer function enables you to use your VCI-400 along with CD players or a DVS interface, with or without having a computer connected.
The mixer can also be used in combination with a variety of DJ software. For example, with Traktor Pro you can mix a total of 6 decks. (2 Traktor Pro decks, 2 Traktor Pro sampler decks, and 2 CD players).
The 3 band EQ of the mixer function shares the same bandwidth, crossover and Q factor with the legendary PMC-55 mixer.
The Filters were designed to enable precise sweeps, and the low frequency response was designed to comply with sound systems in large venues.
How to upgrade to v2.0 firmware:
Download the Stand-alone Mixer firmware kit (zip file) from the following link, and follow the instructions in the “read me” file found in the upgrade kit.
