All DJ Equipment News & Reviews
About two short years ago, we reviewed the Alto Professional TS speaker lineup and we were happy to report that these speakers were great performers for the money. Now the Alto Professional team expands its range with their new top-of-the-line speakers called the Black Series. The new Alto Professional Black series two-way speakers come in 10-inch, 12-inch, and 15-inch powered configurations and they all include wireless connectivity and an internal amplifier that's good for 1200 watts of continuous power.
We've been fans of the Decksaver products since the beginning. For those who aren't familiar with them, the Decksaver is a clear shatter-proof cover that rests snugly over DJ equipment to provide protection and to look good while doing it. These covers always fit perfectly over their intended device and they also stand the test of time. Mixware.net (the US distributor for Decksaver) has announced that the Stanton ST-150/STR8-150 has a protective Decksaver on the way and we'll be sure to get a pair in the lab for our own custom turntables.
On Halloween night, I jumped on the Stanton T.120c turntables and my Vestax PMC-05proIV Mixer (with a new Traktor Flux Mode Mapping) for a quick freestyle session featuring my songs from my newest mixtape release; Blazing Cuts October 2013. I had my camera rolling to show you some of the skills. Every month I'll try to complete a quick freestyle DJ session while choosing songs from my newest Monthly Mixtape series called "DJ Blaze - Blazing Cuts". Check out my quick freestyle video session and download my latest October 2013 mixtape.
Native Instruments has just announced their new flagship Production hardware, the Maschine Studio, and new software, Maschine 2.0. The new Maschine Studio hardware is bigger than the original and provides best-in-class control with two new hi-res color displays, a new edit section with a large jog wheel, and responsive 16-multi-color backlit pads. The Maschine 2.0 software provides lots of improvements to the user interface and works better and faster on all three Maschine Production devices. We have a new Maschine Studio in the DJbooth.net lab for the full video and written reviews which will be available shortly. Check out the unboxing & first impressions video to see all that comes in the package.
A few short years ago, Pioneer allowed famous DJ's to use their CDJ decks as an art canvas to make some really cool pieces that were auctioned off for charity. Fast forward to today and Pioneer DJ has re-initiated it's efforts and this time the CDJ-2000NEXUS units have been nicely decorated and are currently being auctioned off at charitybuzz.com/pioneerdjartmix with all proceeds generated going to VH1 Save The Music Foundation, to restore music education programs in public schools.
The Reloop brand makes some great DJ equipment that we always review here in the DJbooth.net Lab with good results. They've decided to throw their hats into the production realm with the release of the new Reloop Keypad and Keyfadr controllers which are compact, USB-powered, and affordable DAW Workstations that both come bundled with Ableton Live Lite 9 to allow users to start creating music right out of the box. The Keypad controller (pictured above) has the same 25 mini piano keys as the Keyfadr, but it also adds the 16 Velocity Sensitive (and backlit) pads that producers have grown to love. We've got our hands on the new Reloop Keypad and we are working on the full written and video reviews but check out the unboxing & first impressions video in the meantime.
The Numark Mixtrack Edge was on display at the 2013 Atlantic City DJ Expo a few months ago where were able to get lots of play time with the new controller and the Numark team was also gracious enough to give us an exclusive walkthrough video to let us know what the Mixtrack Edge is all about. We now have our very own Numark Mixtrack Edge in the DJbooth.net lab for the full review treatment, but check out our unboxing and first impressions video in the meantime to see what comes in the box.
The winner of the 2013 Online DMC DJ Championships has been announced by the DMC judges. The performance which took top honors for the entire competition was by JON1ST from the UK who does some seriously crispy scratching and out-of-this-world juggling in one of the best performances I've seen to date. Watch this phenomenal set by as he rips it up on a set of Technics 1210's and a new Rane Sixty-Two Mixer and get ready to see him at the World DMC DJ Championships in a few short weeks.
