Just yesterday afternoon, I jumped on the Stanton ST-150 turntables and Traktor Z2 Mixer for yet another quick freestyle session featuring songs from my newest mixtape release; Blazing Cuts November 2013. I had my camera rolling to give you all some turntable love. Every month I'll try to complete a quick freestyle DJ session while choosing songs from my newest Monthly Mixtape series called "DJ Blaze - Blazing Cuts". Check out my quick freestyle video session and download my latest November 2013 mixtape.
Monster is bringing us a new and ultra-portable DJ system called GO-DJ. The GO-DJ device has a built in mixer, storage for music, dual screens for deck controls, and an audio interface for speakers and headphones. This compact unit is only a bit larger than most cell phones and has lots of functions that DJ's can use to play at a small gig or in the comforts of their own home.
Our favorite DJ from Belgium, Super DJ Emiliot, is back in the dungeon once again with a brand new mixtape available on right now on Audiomack.com. Unlike the other mixtapes from the R&B Healing Series, this C.A.R.E. mixtape is a special edition so there isn't any models hosting, but there's a great mix of romantic songs that are perfect for a listen on Valentines Day with your better half. Download & Stream this, and all of DJ Emiliot's mixtapes right here.
The Black Friday sales from last week will continue on for the next few days for DJ's and Producers who are interested in saving some money on Serato or Native Instruments products. The Serato team has a whole webpage of 50-percent-off items including special edition noisemap control vinyl, slipmats, and more while Native Instruments has launched the THANKSGIVING XXL which is an extensive 50% off Thanksgiving sales special on most of their products including KOMPLETE, MASCHINE Expansions, and TRAKTOR PRO 2 all at the NI Online Shop.
My favorite DJ headphones of all time just keep getting better and better. V-Moda has unveiled the new BoomPro Hi-Fi detachable professional microphone, the new CoilPro Performance DJ cable that extends the reach of the headphones up to 12 feet, and new XL Memory Cushion earpads for even more comfort and better sound isolation. These accessories are now available at V-Moda or at Amazon and they make perfect companions for the V-Moda M-100 headphones that we recently reviewed or for many other compatible DJ headphones. We have all three accessories in the Lab and we have a cool new product feature video to breakdown every accessory in-depth.
The Pioneer XDJ-R1 is a new all-in-one DJ system that can be used in many different ways and using many different combinations of media for music playback. The Pioneer XDJ-R1 can function as a two-deck DJ controller that can work with almost any DJ software of your choice (comes bundled with Virtual DJ LE). The XDJ-R1 can also function as a true standalone two channel DJ mixer, it can playback audio files directly from on-board USB flash/hard drives, and it can even be used in conjunction with Rekordbox and Remotebox in order to wirelessly control most of the DJ functions using compatible iOS & Android Wi-Fi enabled devices that are running the Rekordbox Pioneer DJ library software. The XDJ-R1 goes even a step further than the XDJ-AERO we reviewed late last year by adding dual CD slots in the front of the XDJ-R1 to allow users to playback music from CD’s. All of these functions can be performed on each deck individually meaning the DJ has the choice of using the XDJ-R1 in hybrid mode to mix between different tracks in various different playback modes.
Just last week we finished the in-depth HD-video and written reviews of the new Native Instruments Maschine Studio Music Production MIDI Controller. We found that the Maschine Studio is an extremely powerful device that can help music makers produce professional tracks using this very tactile production centerpiece. The powerful Drum Synth that's included in the new Maschine 2.0 allows users to tailor their drum sounds to suit their individual style.
The Reloop brand makes some great DJ equipment that we always review here in the DJbooth.net Lab with good results. They've decided to throw their hats into the production realm with the release of the new Reloop Keypad and Keyfadr controllers which are compact, USB-powered, and affordable DAW Workstations that both come bundled with Ableton Live Lite 9 to allow users to start creating music right out of the box. The Keypad controller (pictured above) has the same 25 mini piano keys as the Keyfadr, but it also adds the 16 Velocity Sensitive (and backlit) pads that producers have grown to love.
