NI has sent us two of their newest compact DJ controllers for Traktor called the Traktor Kontrol D2 for the full review treatment. The Traktor Kontrol D2 is essentially the “deck” section of the recently reviewed Traktor Kontrol S8 DJ controller and it sports the same hi-res screen and heavy remix/stem deck control with multicolored backlit pads and volume controls. The D2 and the S8 uses the remix deck controls to manipulate the new Stems file format. Watch our quick unboxing and first impressions video to see a fresh D2 out of the package.
Reloop has just announced their brand new multi-media player called the RMP-4. This new Hybrid Performance Player can play CD’s, USB media, and act as a MIDI controller for playback. The Reloop RMP-4 deck also has advanced features on-board like Slip Mode, Loop Roll, Hot Cues, and eight buttons to control the popular features. Hercules has recently released its newest DJ controller called the DJ Control Jogvision. The Hercules DJ Control Jogvision has metal top jog wheels with LED indicators on them to make it easier to juggle, scratch, and cue the music without looking at the computer screen. Check out this quick Demo video by DJ Spawn and Hercules that shows how well these new Jogvision Jog wheels really hold up to abuse.
Earlier this morning Pioneer DJ has just announced the new DDJ-SB2 entry-level Serato DJ controller. The latest iteration of the original Pioneer DDJ-SB that we reviewed last year includes all the same features with the addition of Gain control knobs, line level meters, the Pad Trans beat effect, and four-deck control. Today, the Native Instruments team has finally introduced the Traktor 2.9 Update which also introduces the STEMS audio file format to the masses so that DJ’s can start mixing and manipulating the music in new and creative ways. With the all new STEMS files, users will be able to separate beats, grooves, and vocals so that mixing can be done on an entirely different level.
We recently reviewed the new Dual-Screen Serato DJ Controller called the Numark NV and we found that it was a great device that allows the user to focus on the performance and crowd without gazing at the computer screen. Earlier this morning Pioneer DJ has released a very quick teaser video of what looks to be like their new Rekordbox software with a lot more features. Specifically, it looks like the Rekordbox software that currently handles track preparation and library management for CDJ/DJM users will now be able to work in real time with new DJ controllers and perhaps even DVS timecode vinyl setups. The new Rane TTM57MKII two-channel Serato DJ Mixer is now in the DJbooth.net lab for the full Video review treatment. The TTM57MKII is the new update to the original TTM57SL mixer that only worked with the aging Serato Scratch Live Software. Now Rane has now updated the mixer with the new TTM57MKII complete with Serato DJ control, dual-USB ports, 8 RGB backlit pads, Low/High Pass filters, and the familiar layout that Rane is known for.
