The New Rane MP2015 rotary digital mixer has excellent build quality, top-notch sound, and a cool way to mix music using knobs instead of faders. The Rane MP2015 has four channels and an additional channel that can be used to link other channels together for easier manipulation. The Internal dual-USB soundcard that is present on the MP2015 is capable of running Traktor DVS timecode over these channels as well as recording a mix in high-quality audio. When the Serato DJ software was released, the MixEmergency software plugin that allows Serato users to DJ with video was left out in the cold as it was incompatible with the newest form of their popular DJ software. Serato DJ users were forced to use the Serato Video plug-in to do their Video DJ sets. Now, Serato has made things right by allowing Inklen to produce a new version of MixEmergency 2.4 that is now fully-compatilbe with Serato DJ.
This week’s turntablism video comes straight from sunny San Diego, as DJcity gives us another installment of their Cutting Room series. Acclaimed DJ’s including DJ Costik, Cwitch, DJ Happee, Impakt, Rayted-R, and DJ Slowhand bring the poolside vibes in this dope compilation. All of these guys have made a name for themselves in the turntablist world, and this video shows why. Today, Serato DJ released the new 1.6 Beta download to the public which brings all of the other Rane DJ mixers and DVS soundcards up-to-date with the newest Serato DJ features and functions. The Rane SL2, SL3, SL4, Sixty-One, Sixty-Two, and Sixty-Eight can all now reap the benefits of using the new Serato DJ platform instead of the “soon-to-be-retired” Serato Scratch Live software. Remember, this is only a Beta release, so Serato users are warned not to use this software in live performances because its not yet fully tested.
Serato DJ 1.5 has now been released. This means that the era of Serato Scratch Live and Itch is coming to an end. Last month Serato announced that they would combine all of their Serato based DJ software into one software to rule them all which is known as the Serato DJ 1.5 release. The new release will now work with the new Pioneer DJM-900SRT, DDJ-SR, DDJ-SP1, and the Rane Sixty-Four. Of course all of the other Serato DJ controllers are also able to work with the new Serato DJ 1.5 and there’s a few bug fixes and housekeeping items addressed in this update as well.
Now that the Serato DJ 1.5.0 cat is out of the bag, the Rane Sixty-Four Serato DJ certified Mixer has also been announced. The new Rane Sixty-Four Mixer will be one of two mixers out on the market in October that will work perfectly with the new Serato DJ 1.5.0 DJ software right out of the box. The Sixty-Four Mixer sports dual USB ports for easy DJ changes, on-board effects, Serato DJ MIDI controls, and can support up to four external Serato NoiseMap Vinyl/CD control decks at once.
