If you've been keeping up with Traktor, then you know that the Remix Decks allows DJ's to perform like producers in real-time while beatmashing and remixing with different sounds, loops, and effects using different controllers. The Remix Decks originally came with a few Remix sets to get users started, but NI has made sure to keep releasing Fresh and New Remix Sets for users to play with, all for a small fee.
The new Native Instruments Traktor Kontrol S2 MK2 and Traktor Kontrol S4 MK2 Digital DJ controllers were just released to the public last week and we've already completed the reviews which shows why these units work excellent with the Traktor Pro 2 software and the Traktor DJ App. The Traktor Kontrol S2 and S4 have many similarities and differences so I've decided to create a quick comparison video to show potential buyers what they'll be missing or gaining by purchasing one or the other.
The Traktor Kontrol S2 MK2 is the new and second iteration of the original Traktor 2-channel Digital DJ Controller that was released a few short years ago under the Kontrol S2 name. The new Traktor Kontrol S2 MK2 has a few hardware updates that will complement the new updates that the Traktor Pro 2 software has received over the last few years. The Native Instruments DJ controllers have an outstanding history in respects to the way they always match up to their Traktor software perfectly. The Traktor Kontrol S2 MK2 is now available for $500 at retail and our full Video review will let you know if its worth the investment. Please see our review of the Traktor Kontrol S4 MK2 for the details on the four-channel version of this same DJ controller by Native Instruments.
The new Native Instruments Traktor Kontrol S2 MK2 and S4 MK2 Digital DJ controllers were just released to the public last week and we've got review units in the lab for full out video and written reviews. The new controllers boast improvements to the original designs by adding multi-color hotcue/remix deck pads, hi-res aluminum metal plate jog wheels, FLUX mode buttons, and Traktor DJ iOS compatibility. The original S2 and S4 DJ controllers were the perfect 2-channel and 4-channel mixing consoles for the Traktor software. The Traktor software has seen lots of new updates since the release of the original S2 /S4 so it's only natural that NI releases new controller interfaces to access the new advanced features such as remix decks controls and FLUX mode. We'll have the full reviews completed shortly, but check out our unboxing & first impressions videos in the meantime to see what comes in the boxes.
The Traktor Pro 2.6.4 update is out now via the NI Service Center. This update is free to all TRAKTOR PRO 2 users and it now adds support for the redesigned Traktor Kontrol S2/S4 controllers. This update also includes better cueing and looping with CD timecode and improved hot cue reliability in timecode mode.
Native Instruments just slashed prices on the Traktor Kontrol S2 and S4 and continued the promotion "until supplies lasted". NI has finally finished off its inventory of S2 and S4 controllers to make way for the new Traktor Kontrol S2 MK2 and the Traktor Kontrol S4 MK2 Digital DJ controllers which were just announced today! The new controllers boast improvements to the original designs by adding multi-color hotcue/remix deck pads, hi-res aluminum metal plate jog wheels, FLUX mode buttons, and Traktor DJ iOS compatibility.
The NI Traktor Kontrol X1 MK2 is a compact and modular Digital DJ controller that was built specifically for the full Traktor Pro 2 software that allows DJ’s to control file navigation, effects, loops, hotcues, Flux Mode, and other playback properties. The Traktor Kontrol X1 MK2 is the second iteration of the original X1 with some minor layout changes and the addition of a touch strip and loop counter readout that allows DJ’s to take even more control of their mixing than ever before. Watch our full review video for the complete rundown.
The new Traktor Kontrol X1 MK2 has now shipped from Native Instruments to our very own DJbooth.net lab for the full written and video review treatment. The new Traktor X1 has most of the same functions as the original X1 but adds a new touch-strip section in the middle of the unit that can control effects parameters, nudging for beatmatching, and for jumping to a particular section in a song. The review is on the way, but watch the unboxing video to see the new X1 MK2 fresh out of the box.
