The Vestax VCI-400DJ (the special edition VCI-400 that comes bundled with the full version of Serato DJ software) Digital DJ controller is now released and available for purchase at your local retailer. The VCI-400 is an extremely versatile DJ controller that can work in perfect harmony with Traktor, Serato, Virtual DJ, Mixvibes, and almost every other popular DJ software on the market. I liked it so much that I kept the VCI-400 as my controller of choice.
Two weeks ago, Serato announced their new iPad companion App called Serato Remote. With the release of the App also came some updates to the Serato DJ and Serato Scratch Live software suites. Buried within the new Serato Scratch Live updates came the Pioneer CDJ-2000nexus HID-Mode compatibility which allows DJ's to use the two together in perfect harmony.
The Serato team continues to release New and Limited Edition runs of their Control Vinyl for DJ's to use and collect until they are all inevitably sold out. Late last week Serato announced that they have noew released the new Limited Edition 10-inch Serato Control vinyl that are just two-inches smaller so that they can easily fit in a backpack for DJ's on the go. The 10-inch Serato Control vinyl has the new CV02.5 Performance Series Control Tone for the best tracking and tightest control for only $34 a pair.
Today, Serato has announced that their new iPad companion App for Serato DJ and Serato Scratch Live is here and available at the App store for all Serato DJ's to enjoy. Introducing the Serato Remote iPad App which works in conjunction with any existing Serato Laptop setup to control cue points, loops, samples, effects, and much more right on the iPad touchscreen instead of leaning over to the laptop.
A few months ago, we took a look at the Rane Sixty-One mixer which was a good follow-up to the TTM series mixers but still lacked some of the on-board MIDI controls and features that DJ’s need to control their Digital performance. So we’ve stepped it up to the next level with this review of the new Rane Sixty-Two-Z mixer review that promises to deliver on the same quality front, but also providing users with even more digital and analog flexibility than ever before.
The Numark NS7 has been out on the market for over 3 years now, but its still one of my favorite controllers to use with Serato as its still the only controller that contains actively spinning platters and a mixing console all in one single unit. During DJ Esco's written review, we loved the build quality, excellent vinyl feel on the platters, and a high quality mixing section to round out the package. The NS7 now gets a free software upgrade from Serato Itch to the new and improved Serato DJ and DJ CXL is in the Numark Studio to give a quick demo video of the new look and features. Check out the performance video and the (throwback) NS7 written review.
As I'm working feverishly on the Rane Sixty-Two Serato SSL Mixer review this past week, I've noticed a few new emails from the Serato Team regarding a slew of new control vinyl in brand new colors. The first release includes the three different Neon colored control vinyl which are available in yellow, green, or pink which run only $39 a pair due to tiny label defects that don't affect performance. The latest release includes a new Glow-in-the-Dark vinyl with the new CV02.5, Performance Series Control Tone for the best tracking and tightest control for $49 a pair.
The 2013 Online DMC Championships of 2013 are going on right now and the competition is definitely getting intense. Last week I brought you Redmist's Round 4 performance that I thought was a sure-fire win. It turns out that Round 4 is now in the books and Vekked takes top honors with an incredible performance of crisp scratching and a great overall performance. Check out Vekked Round 4's first place performance as he tears it up on the Rane mixer Sixty-Two and a pair of Stanton STR8-150 turntables.
