Pro Audio Reviews
I’ve been personally using Odyssey flight cases for my DJ equipment for over twenty years now! Odyssey always seems to bring out new cases and bags to protect DJ equipment almost as soon as the piece is released to the public. The newly announced Pioneer XDJ-RX all-in-one DJ Rekordbox system was recently released to the masses and Odyssey has already produced new flight cases and bags to accommodate.
The Epsilon company has been producing brand new DJ & Lighting equipment for the masses and today we take a look at the new EPM 8.0 powered studio monitors to see how these would work in a DJ and studio/production environment. These affordable monitors only cost $199 each and have an internal amp, 8-inch woofers, three different input types, and a rubbed MDF enclosure for good sound and durability.
The same team that is responsible for my personal favorite DJ Jetpack Backpack has now introduced a line of premium headphone bags to protect and carry premium DJ headphones. Orbit Concepts has released the Deloop lineup of headphone bags. The Deloop bags come in four different models, but the OC team has sent us the Deloop Sport bag to put it through the paces. Check out our full video review to see how they hold up.
Alto Professional has just introduced a brand new line-up of powered speakers that are lightweight, versatile in setup, and affordable in price. The new Alto Professional TX Series line of two-way, active loudspeakers include the TX8, TX10, TX12 and TX15 with different size woofers apparent in the naming. Each TX features a bi-amplified design, high-efficiency drivers, trapezoidal enclosures, and steel grilles for protection.
In our next video for the weekly video series, I will share with you my favorite or personal best DJ headphones for under $100. DJ headphones need to be rugged and durable, while providing good isolation and high volume levels for accurate monitoring during a performance. The Urbanears Zinken check all of these boxes and much more.
Novation has always been bringing producers and live performers excellent controllers to apply their trade on and they’ve finally introduced a companion Soundcard and USB hub device to make it easy to connect all of that MIDI goodness to a hardware setup. The new Novation Audiohub 2x4 soundcard has a three-port USB hub, two inputs, and four outputs to connect all of the setup to a computer and other sound systems.
A brand new company called LyxPro has just released a cool set of headphones that are advertised as being great for DJ’s and Sound professionals alike. The LyxPro HAS-20 headphones have large 50mm over-the-ear drivers, good passive isolation, and a folding/swivel design for easy transport and one-ear monitoring. We have a set of LyxPro HAS-20 headphones in the lab for the review treatment, but check out the unboxing video to see my first impressions.
The recently announced Cerwin Vega P1000X powered 10-inch two-way loudspeakers are on full display at this year’s Atlantic City DJ Expo and we had DJ Spark give us the video rundown to see where they fit in the CV range. The new P1000X is the new two-way speaker that sports a 10-inch woofer and an internal 1000 watt Continuously powered amplifier.
Mackie has been really busy lately bringing out new Thump Powered Speakers that pump out over 1000 watts each and now they are adding new affordable powered monitor speakers to their new range called the CR3 and CR4. The New Creative Reference line of Powered Monitors come with three-inch woofer (CR3) or four-inch woofer (CR4) versions and also house silk dome tweeters for great high and mid range accurate sound reproduction.
The Alto Professional team expands its powered speaker range with their new top-of-the-line speakers called the Black Series. The new Alto Professional Black series subwoofers come in 15-inch and 18-inch woofer configurations and they all include wireless iOS connectivity and an internal amplifier that’s good for 1200 watts of continuous power.
