The new Akai AFX & AMX Serato DJ controllers are finally in the DJbooth lab for the full review treatment.The Akai AFX is a small controller that lets users perform with multi-color performance pads, effects, hotcues, slicer, loops, navigation, and the new Serato Flip expasion while the Akai AMX is a mixing console & Serato DJ interface that controls the EQ, filters, headphones, volume linefaders, a mini-innofader crossfader and DVS Capable RCA inputs and outputs.
Reloop has just announced two new DJ Mixers that show a lot of promise and versatility in their makeup and functionality. The new Reloop RMX-22i and RMX-33i are two-channel and three-channel mixers respectively, and they are both packed with great features such as Four Sound Color Effects and the new split inputs and supplied splitter cable that allows smartphone and tablet DJ’s to easily connect and control the mix.
Allen & Heath has just announced that they are releasing a Digital USB version of the Xone:43 analog mixer which will be dubbed the Xone:43C. The new Xone:43C mixer will sport all of the analog goodness of its sibling including the iconic Filters and great sound quality along with adding a USB soundcard for DVS playback and an X-Link port to connect other Allen & Heath Digital devices such as the K1 or K2.
Pioneer has just announced that they are releasing a new lineup of powered studio monitors for DJ’s and producers. The new Pioneer RM-05 & RM-07 have HD coaxial drivers that place both the woofer and the tweeter on the same axis for superb sound and response across the frequency ranges. Around the back, there is a three-band EQ as well as unbalanced RCA and balanced XLR inputs. The RM-05 has a five inch woofer while the RM-07 has a seven inch woofer.
We recently reviewed the new Native Instruments Traktor Kontrol S8 which is a very powerful DJ controller for Traktor while also working as a DVS enabled mixer for external turntables and CDJ style control. Serato DJ 1.7.4 has just been released and with it comes the compatibility with the new Serato DJ Club Kit that will allow users of certain Pioneer and Allen & Heath four channel Club mixers to work in digital vinyl setup mode with external decks and Serato DJ software control. Users of the Pioneer DJM-900NSX/DJM-850 or the Allen & Heath DB2/DB4 and newly announced Xone:43C can connect to the computer via USB and have full Serato DJ timecode control with the club kit.

Numark has released three new headphones in their HF series to fit many different DJ’s needs. The HF150 headphones are collapsible and have a compact design for easy transport, the HF325 have an on-ear performance design, while the HF350 have an over-the-ear isolation design. All three sets of headphones have leatherette earcups for superior comfort and they all sport 40mm drivers for crisp and clean sound.
