My favorite headphones in the whole wide world are also the favorites of the many DJ's who were polled for the DJ Magazine's Tech Award for Headphone Of The Year. The 2013 DJ Magazine HOTY is none other than the V-Moda Crossfade M-100 Professional DJ Headphones. These headphones have phenomenal build quality, a folding hinge design, great sound quality, and customizable/removable shields for the earcups.
A couple of months ago, we reviewed the new Beats By Dr. Dre Mixr Professional DJ headphones and we were impressed with the build quality, the sound signature, and all the other features that worked well for DJ use inside the DJ booth. Our good friend ProfessorBX over at the Beats office felt it was only right that we also take a look at the top-of-the-line Beats Pro headphones to put them through the same tests. The Beats Pro headphones have a completely solid steel/aluminum construction, an over-the-ear design for good isolation, and a folding-swivel construction for one-ear monitoring and storage. The full review will be completed within two weeks, but check out our unboxing & first impressions video to see what comes in the box.
Phiaton is a relatively new audio company that produces some good quality headphones for all types of users. The Phiaton Bridge MS 500 headphones have an over-the-ear design and premium construction materials throughout including a solid aluminum body and genuine leather earcups and headband for added comfort and durability. We've completed this review to see just how they hold up in the DJ booth.
The Beats by Dr. Dre headphone range includes all sorts of models ranging from over-the-ear active noise cancelling, to inner ear-buds that were created in conjunction with B-ball star Lebron James. The Beats headphone range as a whole has been given a bad rap amongst many DJ inner-circles, but here at DJbooth.net, we like to give all DJ gear a fair shake, no matter what name brand they come from. We’ve never reviewed any Beats headphones before, so we thought that the new DJ-inspired Mixr headphones would be the perfect place to start.
The new Urbanears headphone colors for the Fall and Winter 2013 season are now available for purchase everywhere Urbanears headphones are sold. The Urbanears line of headphones includes the Plattan (lightweight on the ear headphones), the Medis, and the recently reviewed Zinken (Professional DJ Grade headphones). Each of these headphones come in more than ten different colors, and now we can add the new three fall colors to the list; Cobalt, Clover, and Lilac.
Vestax has just announced the arrival of their new high-quality replaceable headphone cables that work well with their HMX-05 headphones or any other compatible DJ headphones called the HFC-1 cable. These cables are available in white, purple, green, or red and feature a matching flat cable that will never tangle. The HFC-1 will be available in October 2013 for only $10.
We reviewed the Vestax HMX-01 headphones in black and red a few months ago, and now Vestax has released the white and red edition to compliment the White and Red mixers and controllers in their lineup. The Vestax VCI-400DJ Serato DJ edition also dawns the white paint-job while the new Vestax VCI-380 is also available in white. Now these vestax controllers have a nice set of HMX-01 white headphones to match.
