CD Turntables Reviews
Last night Serato DJ has released a new update to their flagship Software to provide additional compatibility for new products. This new Serato DJ 1.7.6 update specifically allows users to now purchase a new 24-bit Denon DS1 professional DJ soundcard for Serato Noisemap vinyl or CD control with external mixers and turntables or CD decks. The new Serato DJ 1.7.6 update also has a few other fixes for minor bugs within the software. Check out the quick videos that show the new Denon DS1 in action both with Vinyl and CD setups.
Now that Pioneer DJ has started making the recently reviewed PLX-1000 turntables to play vinyl, it almost seems like the DJ equipment and culture has come full circle. Pioneer has been taking us all on a trip down memory lane as they continue to release the history of the DJ and the role that particular Pioneer DJ equipment has played in it. Pioneer DJ has just announced that they are releasing a new lineup of “CD-less” CDJ’s called the XDJ Line. The new XDJ series will feature USB ports to connect to computers for digital software playback like Traktor/Serato or to connect USB drives to DJ straight from the user library using Rekordbox. The first release of the new line is called the Pioneer XDJ-1000 and it features a familiar CDJ layout, an intuitive touch-screen, and more.
Numark is on a roll at this year’s BPM show in the UK with the release of a few new products. The product that seems to be making the most noise is the new NDX-500 Multi-media player and DJ controller. The NDX-500 is like an update to the other NDX models as it can playback music from USB drives, CD’s, or even work as a USB MIDI controller with native Serato DJ support.
The brand new Mixvibes Cross DVS package that works with any DJ soundcard has now been released and can be purchased at retailers everywhere for the new low price of only $99. The new Mixvibes Cross DVS package comes with the Mixvibes timecode vinyl and the powerful Mixvibes software in order to get started. The user needs to add a mixer, a soundcard, a computer, turntables/CDJ’s, and music to start spinning. Pioneer and Serato has just announced that the CDJ-900NXS multi-media player (an update to the hugely popular CDJ-900 that adds a new high-resolution color display, better looping abilities, and full Rekordbox compatibility) is now fully compatible with the Serato DJ Software in HID Mode. This means that most of the main buttons, functions, and features on the CDJ-900NXS will function flawlessly in conjunction with the Serato DJ Software.
The Pionner XDJ-Aero All-in-one Wireless DJ system is a compact and versatile machine that allows DJ’s to playback music using many different media formats including live streaming via wireless devices running the Remotebox software or App. Pioneer has just released the new XDJ-Aero 3.0 Firmware upgrade and Rekordbox 1.2 that now allows users to control functions of the mix such as loops and effects directly from a mobile device.
The Pioneer XDJ-R1 is a new all-in-one DJ system that can be used in many different ways and using many different combinations of media for music playback. The Pioneer XDJ-R1 can function as a two-deck DJ controller that can work with almost any DJ software of your choice (comes bundled with Virtual DJ LE). The XDJ-R1 can also function as a true standalone two channel DJ mixer, it can playback audio files directly from on-board USB flash/hard drives, and it can even be used in conjunction with Rekordbox and Remotebox in order to wirelessly control most of the DJ functions using compatible iOS & Android Wi-Fi enabled devices that are running the Rekordbox Pioneer DJ library software. The XDJ-R1 goes even a step further than the XDJ-AERO we reviewed late last year by adding dual CD slots in the front of the XDJ-R1 to allow users to playback music from CD’s. All of these functions can be performed on each deck individually meaning the DJ has the choice of using the XDJ-R1 in hybrid mode to mix between different tracks in various different playback modes.
A few short years ago, Pioneer allowed famous DJ’s to use their CDJ decks as an art canvas to make some really cool pieces that were auctioned off for charity. Fast forward to today and Pioneer DJ has re-initiated it’s efforts and this time the CDJ-2000NEXUS units have been nicely decorated and are currently being auctioned off at charitybuzz.com/pioneerdjartmix with all proceeds generated going to VH1 Save The Music Foundation, to restore music education programs in public schools.
The Mixvibes Cross Pro DJ Software allows for seamless HID integration with the Pioneer CDJ lineup. Now DJ’s can control up to four Pioneer HID decks simultaneously within the Mixvibes software using all of the buttons and knobs found on the Pioneer CDJ range of CD decks. The latest video shows a host of features that can be controlled and manipulated through the CDJ on-board controls including hotcues, loops, file navigation, and much more.
