The DJ Booth… We never miss a beat…

Emcee of the Year of 2008

Lil Wayne

Reader's Pick:
Lil Wayne
In addition to selling roughly 3 million copies of his latest album, Tha Carter III – more than double the sales T.I.’s Paper Trail – Lil Wayne officially became an international superstar. Additional guest features, countless remix credits and a whopping eight Grammy nomination followed. No doubt about it: Wayne’s “Lollipop” was licked the most in 2008.

Runner Up:
Ludacris

I gave this to Luda since his album was solid but moreso because he killed any track he was featured on. He was hungry in 2008.

I agree with Z. weezy could sell snake oil and call it a platinum record and people would buy it...if that makes sense.

Not by a long shot. Weezy? NEVER. Good? Yes. BEST? Nope.

I cried. Nas had '08 year on lock-down. I mean, from the album of the year, the incredibly dope mixtape, or all of his features that he killed..

Man, I think TI deserved this, but you gotta give Weezy his props. 2008 was his year.

I voted for Ludacris, mainly because i thought & still think that Weezy is overated as a MC (he's good, but not the best around) & because i thought Theatre Of The Mind was a great lyrical album

Luda & Weezy were both the top contenders, Luda murdered every guest appearance, but Weezy was all over the place in '08, Weezy gets this one, as much as people would like to hate it. He was on every track, single, whatever, it was his year.
