The DJ Booth… We never miss a beat…

Best Hip Hop Song (Mainstream Artist) of 2008

Lil Wayne

Reader's Pick:
Lil Wayne ft. Static Major – Lollipop
Back in March, Lil' Wayne released a lil' record called “Lollipop,” and the Carter III single proceeded to tear up the charts, netting Weezy his first number one record on the Hot 100. In addition to being perhaps the most ubiquitous song of '08, Lollipop marked the beginning of Wayne's Auto-Tune experimentation, and propelled the love-it-or-hate-it studio effect to new heights of popularity.

Runner Up:
Young Jeezy ft. Kanye West – Put On

DJ Booth Staff Pick:
The Game ft. Lil’ Wayne – My Life

My Life was the best by far, but did you really expect Lil Wayne not to win this one? I heard this song everywhere I went over and over again.

Put On was the song of the year easily in my mind, though I understand why Lollipop won the vote.

LOL. There is no shock or aww involved here. This was easier to predict than Soulja Boy doing 17k his first week.

My Life over all of these. The Game came so hard and they rapped about some real stuff.

Game & Wayne did their thing with "My Life", but I think the track of the year was Jeezy and Kanye with "Put On". I mentioned it in the other category, but that track just had everything together and went hard. "Put On" song of the year, runner up Wayne & Game "My Life".
