The DJ Booth… We never miss a beat…

Breaking Back Through In 2010

Reader Pick   Staff Pick
Dr. Dre   Wyclef Jean
Dr. Dre   Wyclef Jean
Thought Booth readers had forgotten about Dre? Think again! Though Detox didn't manage to recover from its Chronic case of delay-itis in 2009, fans everywhere remain faithful that the West Coast legend's long, long-awaited third studio album (and, reportedly, his final solo release) will be just what the Doctor ordered.

Runner Up:
Game
While we can't honestly say for sure that we'll ever see Detox, we do know that Wyclef Jean is poised to renew his run of global domination, not only proving to hardcore hip-hop fans that he can still rhyme with the best of them, but continuing his philanthropic and social efforts. Ready or not, Wyclef's comin for ya in 2010.

Dr Dre for sure! We have been waiting for this album since like 2002. Honestly, I wouldn't care if we never heard from Wyclef Jean again.

I didn't vote for Dre for the same reason as most who didn't (namely, will Detox ever drop?) I don't think Game ever "left," and Missy is starting to get at the same status Dre is...so I voted for Clef-after the "Touissant St. Jean" mixtape, he's gonna come back for y'all, as a rapper, singer, and overall human being.

I was thinking Game myself (since you-know-what is never coming out ever), but now that I think about it, Wycleaf Jean is more deserving. I still remember that video he put out last year.

I dont get why The Game is even in this category, he is one of the best rappers in the world, he will hardly be breaking back through next year, as I dont think he ever left.

Dr. Dre was the easy pick, though I still dont think Detox will be droping anytime soon.

Yea I agree juz because Game released a bad single or two off his new album doesn't mean he's broken yet? I'm faithful, hiz muzic is dam amazing. I picked Dre for this but I also love Wyclef Jean

I agree with my Aussie mates! Game never left, he was the talking point for his music, beefs and Random Acts of Fcukery throughout in 2009. Why include him ???

We hoped, like every year for Dr. Dre's Detox, but again... didn't get it. Rumor is it'll be out in 2010... wait... haven't we been saying that since 2003? I'm no longer that interested for it.

I picked Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, though Wyclef and Missy's comeback will be equally appreciated.

In retrospect...the staff got it right!

1. Dre announced that "Detox" isn't dropping until 2011 at the earliest.
2. Read the news...even if Wyclef doesn't put out any new music this year, as a humanitarian/philanthropist leading the cause for relief in his home country (victim to the most devastating natural disaster of the century), I think he has left his mark in world history (wouldn't surprise me if a Nobel Peace Prize joined his staff award this year)
