The DJ Booth… We never miss a beat…

Best Hip Hop Record (Unsigned/Independent) of 2009

Wiz Khalifa - This Plane   K. Sparks ft. Julius Francis – Sunshine
Wiz Khalifa - This Plane   K. Sparks ft. Julius Francis – Sunshine
Wiz Khalifa was just one of many artists to leave their major-label home and go indie in '09, but he certainly did it with more panache than most. E Dan-produced single “This Plane” left the Booth fully convinced that, Deal or No Deal, the Steel City representative was headed straight to the top – First Class, no layovers.

Runner Up:
K. Sparks ft. Julius Francis – Sunshine
In these tough times we all need a little "Sunshine" in our lives, and so we couldn't have been happier when DJBooth favorite K. Sparks, along with Julius Francis, delivered a slice of hip-hop joy to our doorstep in April. Always lyrically complex, on "Sunshine" Sparks took a particularly personal turn, letting us all into his head, and leaving us feeling a little better for having listened. And just in case this is sounding overly saccharine, the track's also pretty goddamn dope.

This Plane was one of my favorite tracks this year. Wiz has been on his grind and I have much respect for him because of it.

"Not to brag but, if it adds up..."

The only member that has been continuously posting feedbacks on each and every single joint featured on DJbooth for last 7 to 8 months AND the only member that has posted on each and every single entry in Freestyle Series - I don't feel like continuing that trend cos I've noticed its the final rating that matters only.

Of all the Pay$oz's banging tracks featured on DJbooth, the one that was up for nominations was "Everywhere" which got highly criticized by many reputed members/resident DJs for its whore-ific use of auto-tune BUT received Classic ratings mostly by friends/families and groupies.

Anyway, whenever I come across these letters, M-I-K-E D-R-E-A-M-S, my mouse on its own clicked in front of it. Good to see atleast K. Sparks claiming the Runner Up position.

AWESOME lineup-Even though I voted for Mike Dreams, it's still good to see Wiz Khalifa and K. Sparks get their much-deserved shine.

I wasnt a huge fan of any of these tracks in the vote, though I thought This Plane was a good track the first time I heard it.
